Pat K:
Welcome to the Forum! Are you new to Thompsons, or just new here? If the former, check the FAQ located at the top of the board. There is not a dedicated place here for buying or selling Thompsons. A few have been offered up before, however. Many of the ones for sale on other ad sites, such as http://www.sturmgewehr.com/ or http://www.subguns.com often are brought up for "discussion". I am sure others can chime in with some additional NFA dealer sites that offer TSMG's.
Make sure and do a search for the Pearl guns. Seems there was one in a post just a month ago or so...

Gay or straight Thompson lovers, we'll welcome them all!
I would say that you should be able to find either a Pearl or West Hurley M1 in your price range. Even the West Hurley guns, give a little PK TLC, are fine. Heck, may be fine right off. Just keep looking and hang in there.
What about a 28? There are some for sale on Subguns. You could make an offer...

Tactical Innovations has a Pearl M1A1 for $8995.
At this link...

I don't know if this is to much for a pearl, but the WW2 M1A1 has a $14,500 price tag!
Just passing on info.

Save the $, get a loan, liquidate some stocks to get the difference between a Pearl and an original.
An original will always hold the value better, be easier to sell and will have some intrinsic value as it is a piece of history.
The Pearl will just shoot bullets.

He's right! and with D-Day just around the conner, you can't deny the history.
It all depends on what you want.

Welcome!
The auction sites gunbroker.com and gunsamerica.com occasionally have TSMG's also. Fewer as of late. Usually listed by dealers. Usually more pricy than subguns and strum... which are mostly individual sellers.
Vito at onlythebestfirearms.com reports to have an M1A1 "incoming." Give him a call? A few other dealer sites occasionally have TSMGs also. Nick at Westernfirearms seems to move them pretty quickly.
Search a lot, kick a few tires, be patient, expect to pay more than you want to.
Best with whatever you decide.

Is that "original finish" 100% original from the Auto Ord factory or as originally left from a rebuild arsenal or remanufacturer? Can't tell for sure from the photo. Ask and also ask/get closeup photos to see if there are arsenal rework id's and proof marks.
Does it make a difference in price/value? Don't know - though most M1's and M1A1's that come up for sale appear to be rebuilt/refinished.
