Thanks Murray, for the thoughtful gesture! With all the recent trends, it's surprising that it's still politically correct to celebrate this important holiday. We'll pop a few for you!

Thanks Guys,

Athough the Fourth of July is strickly an American Birthday, the birth of your country, we here today, on our little Island off the coast of New Zealand are going to celebrate your holiday. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

We have an American couple, from Boston, who run the local lodge in our bay and we all this afternoon are having a Fourth of July party with hotdogs and hamburgers and all the party trimmings....so there.! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Our National Birth Day is Waitangi Day February 6th, the date of the Treaty between the British and the Native New Zealand people. A treaty that marked the beginning of a civil war , not the end.

Sadly that day has become a fiasco full of protests and cra..p. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/mad.gif

Our most important holiday, which is celebrated lovingly by everbody, which we all believe is the Birthday our our little Nation is ANZAC day,

The 25th April.

We remember the thousands of New Zealanders and Australians who died fighting at Galipoli in World War One. The 25th April 1915 was the day of the ill fated landing.

That day was truly was the birthday of our nation. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/wink.gif

Have a great day.

I would gladly post some photos of our Island, (The Great Barrier Island)

but I don't know how. I can email them to some one who does know how.

Yes, Both tarmac and dirt roads, no traffic. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif

The Island is about 60 miles long, about the same shape and size as Long island but with 150 miles of road. Total population 750. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif
