21 smoker Posted July 24, 2004 Report Share Posted July 24, 2004 Christmas came early today!!!..my WH28 arrived a few days before expected via the Santa in brown from Paul Krogh. You can read and hear about the work Paul does,but until you see and feel first hand the results of his hard work and expertise,you can`t truly appreciate how lucky we all are to have PK in the NFA community.The fit and finish and function of the WH28 now rivals my Colt21...I`m stunned at the beautiful job he did.The stock fit to frame,lower to receiver,the controls,etc....simply the best I have ever seen...and the action...ssssmmmmoooooootttthhhhh!!!! .. must Posted July 24, 2004 Report Share Posted July 24, 2004 I have a WH M1A1 that I purchased NIB almost 2 years ago & it was a jamamatic from the start! Afew months later I shipped it off to P.K. who basically "overhauled" the gun. It works like a charm now & I never have a problem with it everytime I go out to shoot it. I even "dump" a magazine through it with no problem. Couldn't be happier with the gun. I even got G.I. front & rear sights on it (Paul installed the AOC rear sight on it to replace the WH one that was on it), and a Savage M1 bolt in the gun. Ron A Posted July 24, 2004 Report Share Posted July 24, 2004 I have a 27 Kahr that PK rebuilt - it was a new gun unfired and continued to be unfired, due my numerious attempts - all which failed. I blamed the bullet shapes, power charges and anything I could think of. ----Then -=-- I sent the gun to PK Installed a 28 lower to take removable butt stock. Changed the safti and full levers. I had already installed a short Bbl with comp and registered the gun as a SBR prior to sending to PK. Removed the WH rear sight and installed a Lyman rear sight. Installed a Richardson cocking knob. Then to top off the already great work - PK polished and blued the gun. The results were outstanding. Its been a long time since I have seen this type of quality blueing. I fired this gun yesterday over 500 rounds and not one jam. Some would ask, why would anyone who already has an outstanding 1921, a great 1928 and M1 want a semi 27 Kahr. Something has to hold all of these damm drums I own. After 30 years of hoarding. I have a 28 Savage coming and when it arrives it will be shipped off to Pk for a Bbl change and finish. Maybe I just didn't want to be outdone by Murray. I think we are lucky to have the quality of people on this board - who will help with questions and become guides helping others improve their collections. The reason is that I recently heard that my own WH M1 has made it to the top of his heap and that it had just fired 130 rounds flawlessly. I hope that it will be back in my hot little hands soon! It was a NIB gun, bought from the original owner in March, 2003. It would not fire three rounds in a row without jamming. After seeing earlier comments about his work, I shipped it off to Delta, CO, for some of the PK magic. He is milling the receiver to GI contours and bringing the whole gun into GI specs. It will be completely refinished and will resemble an early GI M1, with no-crossbolt stock, M1928A1 mag catch, "bright" M1 bolt, Lyman "L" rear sight, milled gripmount and sling swivels, and plain paddle-style pivot and safety. All small parts will have a finish resembling the original GI blue. The barrel and butt plate will be sanded with 120 grit paper, and then deeply blued. The receiver and frame will be sandblasted and matte blued per the original specification, yielding the characteristic "frosty" appearance, and will be the only parts on the gun not original USGI. I've requested that Paul put a small Diamond "K" logo where the original ordnance inspector mark would have gone, as I believe that his work will become ever more widely recognized and will further enhance the value and enjoyment of any gun. M1Brian Posted July 24, 2004 Report Share Posted July 24, 2004 I just received a message from Delta Co. that my M1 is in the bluing process and should not be long now. Reading these accolades is really making the Thompsonitius set in to a fever pitch. The problem is a couple of months ago I sent my A1 on a trip to CO also and here I sit Thompsonless looking at these pictures you guys post of completed guns. What was the worst was during the D Day 60 anniversary I had no M1 Thompson to hold during all the war movies. I had to hold the garand and that is a little big for the living room chair. My dad went up Utah beach but he said he carried a m1 carbine because of the equipment he carried. Hope to post some pics soon and quality is always worth the wait. Hi, Gunner, I supplied the non-cross bolt stock. It was a NOS item that I found years ago. Wish I had another. PK will use the original cross-bolt stock on another project. Take care!
