I saw a post from Gordon Herigstag regarding markings on Colt Thompson's and some people would post there guns complete serial numbers and other would not. My question is why should I not post the complete serial numbers to my guns?
Thanks
Roger

Roger,
No reason at all. Hundreds of Colt owners are listed beside the serial numbers of their Thompson's in Gordon's book. I do not know why people blank out the numbers, or only list partial numbers, when selling, or just displaying the firearm on the net. It may be because they do not want anyone to know the background of the Colt TSMG for some undisclosed reason.

I agree with Arthur. If you are talking about postsing the serial number of any registered full-auto, it should not be a problem. The BATFE has everthing on that gun and you have the form 4/$200 stamp to prove it. The only reason people would not give the whole number is if the gun is not legit.
Now non-class 3 stuff is different. Since semi-suto guns go through private sales, people may be leary of revealing the whole serial number.
