Why did Auto Ordnance make the 1927A1 SA Thompsons with the M1 style buttstock. Was and are there now any laws against owning a SA Thompson that has a removable stock? I`ve also seen in older Gun Parts catalogs an adaptor for installation of the original 1928 buttstock on a 1927A1. Are they still around and if yes is it still legal to do so?
Thanks

WHY??? Probably cheaper and easier. One less part (the slide assembly) to make. Numrich and tommygunner both make the conversion plates. Still legal to do.

Tommygunner has two different buttstock adaptor plates.
1. CO518930 made by Chopper Ordnance
2. 513270 made by West Hurley
It looks like the adaptor plate made by Chopper Ordnance is the way to go. Has anyone gone this route with their gun?
Dumb Question time, does the part 518910k8 1928 Buttstock replacement kit, include everything that I need for a complete replacement buttstock? Thanks

Damon is a member here, and I would suggest either sending him an email, or picking up the phone.
