Has anyone ever run across or heard of a wooden case for a Thompson called a "banker box" or "banker case". Would have been used to transport a TSMG back and forth for bank protection. Does somebody really have a collectable here or is he trying to blow smoke up my you know what. dry.gif

Any knowledge of this would be appreciated.

The original Thompson collector's book by Roger Cox mentions an "Alabama Payroll Case." Any manner of professional or home made carrying devices were made during the 1920's and 1930's for Thompson submachine guns. It is very possible that a banking institution could have had a case made for carrying a Thompson. Many banks purchased them in the 1920's.

If you can post a picture of the case and you'll get some better feedback about it's authenticity.

Pics of an Alabama case or bankers box for the payroll, no provision for a stock!
I will keep the pics here a week.

That looks like an old beat up guitar case. Did they really put a TSMG into that thing?

Cool! Thanks for posting the photos.

John Jr,

I'm sure most collectors of today would be appalled to see how Thompson's were handled during their realm.
