I've located a NIB WH M1 with a 25xxxA s/n (1984-5 build date? It's a C&R.) I think the guy wants to get $17k for it. I can't afford it, but I thought I'd run it past everybody to see what you think. From what I know, It's on a Form 3 and the buyer-to-be just died. His son - cop in California - wants it gone. I'm fairly sure that if someone here wanted it, I could tie it up w/o any cash for long enough to make a deal. Being NIB, it will probably need some work to make it run, maybe not - mine did. Ah, but that's what PK is for - right? Gun is in Nevada and I've seen it, it's new, no box. dry.gif

Depends on how much you want it I suppose....I would use that 17K if I had it to deal on a nice Bridgeport M1 instead. I just sold a very nice WH M1 several months back for 13K and was asked why I was trying to "gouge" people. blink.gif

I know of a beautiful WWII M1 that sold for less then $15k this week-end by a dealer. Another dealer had one also for $15k, but I forgot to get his card. More like maybe $11k, or less wink.gif for a gun that won't run. Yep, not a goodie out there until a smith (PK) gets hold of it. smile.gif
It's like a WH C drum. Nice, expensive, but won't work. mad.gif

Poprivit: My response to your considering buying the WH M1 for 17K can best be summed up by an actor I always got a kick out of, Alfonso Bedoya. In 1958's "The Big Country", he has three words of advice for Gregory Peck before he attempts to ride the wild horse "Ol Thunder". And for 17K I would like to offer you those same 3 words, "Doan Dou Eit" . laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

For that kind of money buy real WWII M1 or throw in a little extra cash and get a WWII 1928.

The current market for M1 WH's is 12-14K, and this is being nice due to the lower M1 WWII guns that have been selling lately.

Also M1's only have serial ranges of 100A-717A.

I would offer quite a bit less, or go with a WWII gun for 17K. Offer what you can afford - pass if the deal isn't right.

Chris.

Both the M1's I saw this week-end were in primo shape. Great for a WWII gun. And both guns were very close to mine, they were in the 600,000 range. The one did sale, and if I can find the name of that place that had the other, I'll post it. It the dude wants $17k, start lookin' else where. Like philasteen said, throw in a little cash and have a 1928.

Not to fuel the fire but...

This guy has had this one out there for many 1 day auctions. Price is a good reference - not selling for $15K.

http://www.gunbroker...p?Item=39478101

I know there are other reasons why I would be shaky with this seller - no pics, etc - but an interested individual would get the facts and make a deal even outside of the auction. That is how most things sell.

My $.02

A WH M1 sold on Subguns.com for 13.5K a couple of weeks ago, and a dealer in Shotgun news has one for 14.9K.

I would think a NIB would sell for 12 to 13 now.
