The Versatile Hand Gun Rack makes a great way to store drums.
Left to right; X Drum, Kahr L Drum, 1920 L Drum.

Available at Brownells or directly from Versatile.

Another little tid bit of information I just found, was that Bill Ruger worked at Auto Ordnance in the early 40's.

Those six pack racks are a good idea. Good excuse to get some more drums. I'm sure Hensley could use a couple of 12 packs.

I ordered a two 6 gun racks from KCSafe a few weeks ago... for handguns. Might be a little cheaper with the included free shipping. They have 4 and 6 gun racks and I like the black finish better.

Bill Ruger left Auto-Ordnance in 1945, and in 1949 in collaboration w/ Alexander Strum, brought Ruger to the front of firearms manufacture.

Source, Ruger and His Guns; by R. L. Wilson.

I'm surprised with researching other firearms manufacturers of how many key players once worked with, or for other manufacturers.

The hand gun racks are made in 4 and 6 sizes, $22.00 and $25.00 respectively.

Jack-

The website says $29 and $39+10 respectfully for the 4 and 6 gun models... is the website wrong? (Never mind - Missed it came from Brownells)......

I just checked the 6 gun KC Safe model with a L drum and a C drum and both fit nicely. A damn fine idea.

Chris.

I purchased from Brownells, throw in a tax number and they sell for $20.29 on the 6 model. They charge $8.50 for UPS ground though.

Chris,

Looking at the differances of the racks, and working with the Versatile, the KCSafe model being squared off would offer better security so far as tipping of the gun in the rack side-to-side.

So what is the height, in inches, of the rack and drum together....

Due to the design of the stand being for hand guns, drums sit a little off center, giving a depth of 7", height of 8.5" and a width of 14 1/8th long.

If there isn't enough room in the safe, it gives another reason to buy another larger safe. woot.gif

Mike I like your Thompson stands, it only strengthens my reasoning for a room just for guns and ACCESSORIES! tongue.gif
