If the TCA pulls of an Eastern shoot, it could be a great summer.

You may end up having one long guest list.

Maybe one of the "surprises" could be a wet t-shirt contest?

Or I know, I'll start my own! I could call it "Thompson's Indiana Training Show" or
"TITS"!
It could be big!

Also got a letter from the TCA - they did a good job explaining what the riff was about without naming names.

Thanks Carol.
The TCA letter mentioned an eastern shoot in late July. With TATA in August, it could be a good summer for us with two shoots and show to go to!

Still thinking of the CALENDAR now Mike.....

As Graucho Marx said "I wouldn't want to join any club that would have me as a member"

- Tracie Hill always had the membership list which included our addresses. The BOD had only a list of club member names. Thus the TCA didn’t give him the list, he already had it! The TCA BOD did not give Tracie permission to use the membership list.
- The letter explaining Tracie’s resignation only went to those who were on the TCA membership list that the BOD received from Tracie. The BOD did not get the membership list until Tracie had put out his first mailing. As a result, the BOD had no ability to communicate with the membership for almost a month and they still lack the e-mail and phone number information that most of us submitted with our membership applications.
- The TCA didn’t give or sell the membership list to The American Historical Foundation (AHF). The AHF sent the materials for that mailing to Tracie Hill and he put our address labels on them and sent them out from Ohio. Just look at the envelope they arrived in and you can see that the mailing came from Ohio not from Richmond, VA. Also, I understand that the AHF paid for the entire thing. Finally, the mailing of AHF material was suggested to the BOD by Tracie.
For JimFromFL and PhilOhio:
- I can’t explain why you don’t already have the letter from the TCA. Approximately 200 were mailed O/A 10 Jan 06 (I was the one who did the envelope stuffing and mailing for the BOD). Are you sure that the TCA has your correct address? If you want to confirm that the TCA mailed you the letter, contact Pat Wheeler at tca1934@comcast.net, he is in cahrge of the newsletter and has the current membership list.

QUOTE (Roland, Headless Thompson Gunner @ Jan 16 2006, 01:17 PM) |
For those who did not get the letter explaining the riff. It was stated that Tracie had opted to deny mambership renewal to a member (who went nameless). It was appealed to the TCA BOD and a majority of the board sided with the member. Tracie didn't agree and choose to resign. I don't have Carol Troy's letter in front of me but I believe that was the essence of the dispute. |
Hmmm, now makes me wonder.....(and to stir the pot

Do I want to be part of a group where a member has done something presumably so terrible that his renewal for membership was going to be denied.
Or do i want to be part of a group where one and only one person feels he has the power to deny membership to whom ever he so desires and when he does get his way will quit.

Just some (funny) food for thought.

Who will join the new TATA and who will retain membership in he old TCA?
OR, who will belong to both??

AND inquiring minds want to know, who was the mystery TCA member who, through some unmentionable act too horrible and cruel to mention here, was to have been barred from the halls of Thompsondom FOREVERAFTER?? I must say I have an idea, and probably a good one but to avoid the proliferation of undue rumours I will not mention it here now, or ever (but those who pay attention to detail cannot have missed the clues over the last couple years!

I haven't decided yet. I can't take time off for two shoots so I may be inclined to go with the one that draws the majority of those we've gotten to know the best....
Can anyone tell me how the new TATA will be any different than the old TCA, and will the new TCA be a whole lot different than the old organization??
Tune in next week for answers to these and other questions!!

I’m glad the letter arrived. Interestingly enough, some mail from Don Hall sent on 9 Jan arrived just today. There just is no telling with the USPS.
Thanks for the ideas on the Show & Shoot venue. I’ll pass them along to the BOD.
It would be fun to invite all those liberal loons, have them shoot and convert them but I guess that is just wishful thinking.
