Made a silencer today for a .22 rifle. It worked out pretty good, about as quite as a pellet gun. I used a cheap .22 rifle so I didn't have too much cash invested, and basically built it out of spare parts lying around the shop. Actually used a piece of muffler pipe for the housing! Not I'm thinking that it would be fun to try to make one for a thompson. Anybody have a extra barrel that is really crappy, rifling gone, bulged, or pitted that I could experiment on? I'm looking for something really cheap. 10 or 16 inch OK.

Check out the Richardson book on Supressors (not silencers...!).
Great reference and his suggested barel replacement is really cool! Includes an intergal grip mount!
Wish I could have on here in MI

Be patient, it may take yet another specific AG opinion altogether. BustOff and his cohorts are actively seeking making suppressor approval at the ATF for Michigan residents a reality.
