I have a Thompson 27-a1 lightweight trigger frame. Is it possible to turn it into a full auto/single frame? I think I could by drilling a hole beside the mag catch and installing a pivot, But instead I would rather ask one of you guys first.

The short answer is yes.
If you intend to use this frame on a FA gun there are other milling operations that will need be done to allow use of the FA fire control components. There will also be a gap at the front of the frame/ receiver interface that may be unsightly if not filled. The position and size tolerance for the Pivot holes is such as to preclude simple drilling, you need the right size reamers and a machine that will allow accurate and plumb placement.
