  2. The Packard V8s alone are big $$$ if they're restorable. When they made the movie PT109 they couldn't find any PTs so they had to dummy a couple of IIRC air-sea rescue boats
  3. I think the flare gun looks like a Webley.
  4. I believe it is a Lincoln, what caught my eye was the Thompson on the Running Board.
  5. I bought one of the four sets he has, along with mounting screws/bolts. This is the same guy from whom I bought the Crown plastic grips. Excellent quality, Swedish of course.
  6. The parts are in the mail so I should be able to post pictures soon!
  7. Tom Bowers has the VERS 7/8X24 adaptor to his cans, so the plan is to run his can which is smaller diameter and install the Mauser font sight as suggested by Abody71 in this thread. I had no gassing issues with the MK9 so I'll report later how this smaller diameter setup works.
  8. Hello Frank, I had a MAC .45 adaptor fitted to the Reising and ran an AWC MK9 .45 can which was extremely quiet, but you can use the sights.
  9. 68 coupe, If you are referring to the case pictured with the Colt AMR in top post, it is not for a m1903, its for a WW1 BAR. Case was made in 1918 before bipod was invented, so its not likely that a bipod fitted gun would fit in case. Jim C
  10. The destruction of those is probably the single biggest loss to museums and collectors. I see (saw) somewhere that there is one original hull that was found and is being restored.
  11. Agree, and I've seen "Goebbles" pistol for sale, but no SMG's to speak of.
  12. There were 15,000 Colt manufactured Thompson submachine guns sold by Auto-Ordnance Corporation from 1921 to 1940. According to Auto-Ordnance sales literature, an oiler, cleaning rod, Type XX magazine and handbook was included with the shipment of each gun. Other accessories, such as an L and/or C drum(s), additional Type XX magazines and MILLS (later RUSCO) web gear was also available for purchase. I am looking for that special Thompson submachine gun that still has all or most of the original equipment shipped with the gun. I do not care about the condition of the Thompson, only that some or all of the original accessories shipped with it are still with the gun. If you can think of an example, would you please contact me via Private Message or at: tkd5501@fuse.net - so we can discuss. All leads will be greatly appreciated. The Thompson Collector's Association (TCA) Show & Shoot will be here soon. It is a great event; one you do not want to miss. The Officers and Directors of TCA work really hard to make sure everyone has a great time.
  13. That looks to be a private museum, thus it would not be eligible to be a form 10 gun. Could be a Korean ppsh? Quite a few museums have transferable guns. All countries have famous war heroes, you just don't hear about them here, because why would you? They are generally held in higher esteem in those countries than our guys, since history here is constantly being re-written so our heroes are now villains? Marx and Stalin are pretty popular in places like Washington DC, NY, Chicago, Seattle, etc.
  14. One way or another, a buyer pays all taxes and fees on everything ever sold. I am not aware of any states charging a "sales tax" on a house, so that's a bad example. Real estate title transfers are fee's, not taxes. The transfer tax on NFA is federal, sales taxes are localized (state and below) HTH
  15. Sig customer service says the endpiece is not designed to be replaced.
  16. TGCJ, How well does your BAR fit in that carry bag meant for the 1903 Springfield? Serious question, I'm NOT being a smart-a$$. I have an OOW 1918A3, with the very nice, fitted Pelican-style case they sell. It just barely fits in the back seat of my car, and is very awkward. I'd really like to get something easier to manage when I take it to the range. I'll get a GI tool bag for the bipod & other things. V/R Karl, 68coupe
  17. Last week
  18. I wrote that article in 2018, still working fine, there is not much gassing, nothing like suppressed 5.56, no battering to speak of.
  19. Ahh, the good ol day’s, when we still had some freedoms. We desperately need to get back to those days. Too bad 3/4ths of the world, (including this country), has embraced communism instead.
  20. our Liberals have been calling all semi_automatics if they have plastic stocks assault rifles, most now banned on a buy back program, yes totally stupid but they are in control until next election cycle
  21. I thought when I watched this movie, what hardware store would have all those on hand? Especially the Monitor!
  22. For what it is worth, I cleaned one at the MN Military Museum years ago. A wife of a Korean war veteran had donated it to the museum. It had been in the house attic prior to the donation and the story was it was brought back to the US from Korea by the veteran . The was a torn square piece of fabric in the buttstock compartment. I did not write an information down as a quite a few submachine guns and other military firearms were cleaned. I expect it is likely a Form 10 registered gun at this point.
  23. As the photos in the post by Ghostsoldier no longer seem to show, I am taking the liberty of redoing his post, with the photos that were still hosted on Photobucket, but no longer link: It's not that hard, just a bit time-consuming, as you have to test-fit it repeatedly to make sure it works. Here's the some-what blurry before-and-after pics of mine; I used a Dremel to do it....you're basically just deepening the catch notch. BEFORE AFTER Hope these help. I also thought these markups might help: Before: After:
  24. Just a question.........but would an individual's "Transfer-Tax" (the $200 "stamp") waive any state sales tax (?).......or something similar to real-estate Sale Tax in my state is paid by the "Seller" in Michigan at "closing. An example would be that a Buyer (out-of-state) only pays for the house and some smaller items at "Closing"........and the Seller pays the "Sales-Tax" at Closing. Thoughts (?).
