Colt Browning Machine Rifle
68coupe replied to TGCJ's topic in Browning Message Board (Full Auto Only)
TGCJ, How well does your BAR fit in that carry bag meant for the 1903 Springfield? Serious question, I'm NOT being a smart-a$$. I have an OOW 1918A3, with the very nice, fitted Pelican-style case they sell. It just barely fits in the back seat of my car, and is very awkward. I'd really like to get something easier to manage when I take it to the range. I'll get a GI tool bag for the bipod & other things. V/R Karl, 68coupe - Yesterday

I wrote that article in 2018, still working fine, there is not much gassing, nothing like suppressed 5.56, no battering to speak of.

Gun Crazy- Bonnie & Clyde
Mike Hammer replied to OCM's topic in Gangsters, Outlaws & Lawmen of the Early 20th Century Forum
Ahh, the good ol day’s, when we still had some freedoms. We desperately need to get back to those days. Too bad 3/4ths of the world, (including this country), has embraced communism instead. -
Gun Crazy- Bonnie & Clyde

I thought when I watched this movie, what hardware store would have all those on hand? Especially the Monitor! -
For what it is worth, I cleaned one at the MN Military Museum years ago. A wife of a Korean war veteran had donated it to the museum. It had been in the house attic prior to the donation and the story was it was brought back to the US from Korea by the veteran . The was a torn square piece of fabric in the buttstock compartment. I did not write an information down as a quite a few submachine guns and other military firearms were cleaned. I expect it is likely a Form 10 registered gun at this point.

Semi Mag Catch Mod W/ Pics?
Jim W replied to smithwr3's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
As the photos in the post by Ghostsoldier no longer seem to show, I am taking the liberty of redoing his post, with the photos that were still hosted on Photobucket, but no longer link: It's not that hard, just a bit time-consuming, as you have to test-fit it repeatedly to make sure it works. Here's the some-what blurry before-and-after pics of mine; I used a Dremel to do it....you're basically just deepening the catch notch. BEFORE AFTER Hope these help. I also thought these markups might help: Before: After: -
Just a question.........but would an individual's "Transfer-Tax" (the $200 "stamp") waive any state sales tax (?).......or something similar to real-estate Sale Tax in my state is paid by the "Seller" in Michigan at "closing. An example would be that a Buyer (out-of-state) only pays for the house and some smaller items at "Closing"........and the Seller pays the "Sales-Tax" at Closing. Thoughts (?).

How does it do as a host in terms of reliability, gassiness, battering itself, etc.? Is it an endeavor worth undertaking?
-
Interesting thing about these guns is that except for “Amnesty” status, these guns really have little or no provenance to speak of. They are either Russian or Chinese, all dated so we know that, but I have yet to see a single gun tied to a famous Russian or Chinese soldier. So, however they got here matters not. Country of origin, matching SN’s and condition are the three key determinants of value.

Magazine Repair Tools

Thanks, Frank ! If anyone wants to sell a couple I want ’em. That and talk someone into making more. I bet there’s a market for them. -
RIA is also at 20% BP, but adds for CC, Proxybid, RIA live, and of course, sales tax. The sellers premium is also right up there on consignments under 6 figures. It can add up fast along with large incremental bid amounts. As for the OP being an SOT and not having to pay sales tax, that's not actually true if you intend to keep it. If you intend to resell, being the high bidder at a highly visible auction doesn't sound like a formula for finding a buyer that will pay even more than you did, since most of the fish you're looking for were in the same pool at the auction? I sell on sturm and net more money than what I'd get at an auctions generally. I can post three minutes from now, get payment overnight, and be done vs. Shipping my stuff to an auction, waiting for the auction to happen, waiting to get paid, and giving up a large percentage. And then....if it doesn't sell at that auction (shocking little known secret not everything sells)......a whole nother can of worms.....transfers back, etc.?

Carl Gustaf M2 and M72 LAW - on Form 3s?
johnsonlmg41 replied to ranger1385's topic in Destructive Device Forum
Don't know about the LAW conversions other than some subcal kits, but there are "non-DD" rounds available for the carl gustov so that would need to be registered since they directly fire out of the tube. All of the other stuff that there is no ammo for that fits isn't really a problem, even though some guys love the though of registering them? Sticking a subcal kit below DD level into a tube doesn't mean the tube has to be registered. I find the panzerschrek and the pzf-3 most interesting. The guys messing with the rockets do some really cool stuff, unfortunately what aft has done to the rocket industry has taken all the fun out of that as well. -
Called them a couple of times on the early sight cover - out of stock.

I am so jealous. I shoot my M79 all the time (have plenty of practice chalk M781 rounds), but this is a whole different animal!

I’d like to know more about the mount. There aren’t too many .45 hosts that are well-suited to being suppressed.
