Early MG 42 buffer

Pictured is an early MG42 cra buffer on the left and a late one on the right. The early buffer has a larger diameter (25mm) than the late one (22mm) and will not accept the three wire main spring. If you force that spring over the early buffer, the MG will not cock because there is too much friction against the receiver housing

so i suppose they had a simple MG34 like spring at the very beginning

Thought I'd show some videos of my post samples. I've built three so far and this 3rd MG42 build was the most challenging. The receiver was bent/warped, the WWII top cover and feed tray was bent in various areas, and I had to replace the rails with new ones (installed rivets with air hammer). My second test fire session was flawless with the two belts shown in the video.

Video of my other two. One is an MG3 and the other is an M53. All re-welds. The twin mount was missing the pedestal so I fabricated a replacement from scrap steel I had. The buckles to secure the two halves of the pedestal were purchased on Amazon. And obviously the feet are just wood 2x4s.

Hey gents, I figured I'd share this one. This is a really cool, mostly matching 1942, dated MG42, made by Maget. I picked this up recently. This gun does have some usage and characteristic to it. However, this gun is extremely cool in the aspect that it retains mostly matching serial numbers, with the exception of the barrel, which is unnumbered, the feed tray, and the bolt. However, the feed tray looks to be from an earlier 1942 MG42, given that it has the full four digits instead of the last two. Wanted to share, and also wanted to see if anybody might have another Magit 1942 dated MG42 to compare? It's rather interesting on this one, as the lower two seems to have a mismatched serial number on the left side by the trigger, but was force-matched by armor or matched somewhere along the lines in the field with the last two digits. This one alao has the early style MG34/42 bipod as well. Enjoy, gents.

I will be selling the MG42/59 Heavy Bolt and its associated Buffer along with an unissued Steyr .308 Barrel. I purchased one of the minty (Looks un-fired) parts set of the Italian made MG42/59 that came from Bowman Arms about 3 or so years ago. I will post pictures of these three items later tonight or tomorrow after returning from my trip…but bid just like to ask about value. I did notice one of these bolts recently listed on GB, but the price was about $2K….which I think is insane! Can anyone guide me on fair market value for all three of these mint/unissued like conditioned items? I’m thinking somewhere around $1500 for Bolt & Buffer, and perhaps around $500 on the Steyr barrel?

With a lot of help from Dan Shea here and Greg Felton in the UK, I was finally able to import a genuine MG34 Patronentrommel double drum from England into the U.S.

It was not easy and the whole process took over 1 year!

Thought I would share a transferable MG13 I just picked up. It is a typical Portuguese Contract firearm. I've always had the 13 on my radar and I happened across this one. I have not fired it yet, but I am looking forward to getting it out when the weather improves. It did not come with an S drum, but I have a transit chest full of mags - no other parts at the moment. When I finally get an MG42 added to the collection, I'll post a family portrait.

MP40 Extractor Installation Issue

Hello all,

Could someone provide guidance on installing a replacement extractor for an MP40? My original one is worn out and now just sits loose in the bolt groove. I’ve purchased an original German part, but it seems that I need to hammer “not tap” it in forcefully at the pin hole, which doesn’t feel or seem right. Is it common for these extractors to require slight shaving or adjustment to fit properly in the pin hole? Any advice would be appreciated!

XMG 3D Printed MG34 Style AR GRIP

I’m offering a 3D printed AR grip that resembles an MG34 grip. This helps give your XMG more of that MG34 look.

Black solid PETG. I haven’t broken mine yet in normal handling going to the range in a soft case, etc. It certainly can be broken if you roll down a hill with it. You can attach a sling but I would not carry it by the sling. I have held mine by the sling just to test it but I don’t think it would survive a march.

Most importantly it feels good in the hand!

You will notice a little bit of an odd surface finish in some places. This is an issue with the model and printing that I couldn’t resolve after hours of tinkering. But you can’t really see this stuff from a few feet back. If you have bad eyes just forget I mentioned it!

This is an AR grip so you can stick it on other guns than the XMG if you feel inclined.

Price is $45 each shipped.
