It’s finally happening. 1st a bill to remove the NFA Tax on MG and today a bill dropped to repeal the Hughes backed by GOA. Needs to happen cause with FRT/FRS being available on so many platforms including Thompsons now, what the point of this ban.

.30 cal RN/FMJ projos

Does anyone have a source of affordable .308-.309" dia. 85-90gr RN or FMJ projos?

PPUs are simply no longer available
Hornady long ago discontinued their 85gr. RNs and their otherwise wonderful XTPs will not feed in a Broomhandle and are expensive at 24¢ and at best marginal in my SMGs
Sierra might as well gold plate their 90gr. RNs for their asking price. I'm willing to drop 40¢ per round to feed the Broomhandle but not the SMGs (PPU was 16¢.)

I've checked all the manufacturers that I'm familiar with and even looked for polymer coated .30 cal projos but I found nothing lighter than 115gr. carbine projos. I'm looking for the same bullets that .30 Tokarev uses so I cannot believe that there is no source.

1983 Romanian surplus, an atypically bad lot, very hard primers. Had a fair number of dented primers that failed to ignite on the first hit but went on the second. This one popped and blew itself all over the breech of my M49/57 but didn't ignite the powder charge. I haven't pulled it down yet but I suspect that the flash holes are either missing or somehow bl ocked

Someone wants to trade a limited run of the Colt LE6920HB that was a run of 300 of these Colts during the AWB (2003)

I just don't know what the ballpark price would be for a NOS rifle in the 160s of the 300 made. If you can shed light on it, I would appreciate it.

Specialized Armament Warehouse’s Custom LE6920HB

This model only differs in the fact that it has a heavy barrel. Basically, this is a 16.1 inch version of the heavy SOCOM barrel that Colt’s manufactures for all the M4A1 rifles used by our Special Operation soldiers. These carbines were manufactured exclusively for Specialized Armament Warehouse (SAW). As of this writing, this model had a one time run of 300 special order carbines manufactured by Colt for SAW. This is not to say at some point in the future Colt or SAW may offer it again as a special run or as a new product. The LE6920 began as a special run item and then turned into a regular product.

Went to a gun show in my area and buddy of mine gave me this canvas. World war 2 bag.

Wondering if there's more to it, than just saying it is a toolkit bag.

Never seen one before. And it had this "model of 1921" on it. I know it seems self-explanatory, but wandered If anybody could comment, that would know more about them.

Cimarron CA514M00 Uberti P US Cavalry 45LC 7.5 Case Hardened Revolver

Just ordered one of these. It is an excellent quality tribute to the 1876 Battle of the Little Bighorn. Looks like Uberti has mastered their color case hardening process. It used to be thin and tinny looking, but now it exhibits the colors you'd expect. The revolver is outfitted with a long base pin which acts as a safety, blocking the hammer when desired. The gun has a "black powder" frame. Two base pin screws are included (shown), one of which is historically accurate. Original markings are faithfully executed. Folks, I know this isn't a Thompson, or any of the firearms covered in the many categories, but any techniques you may have used should apply.

I fired 24 rounds though my Remington made 03A3 (1943). The 25th round seemingly didn't engage the extractor while feeding, and jammed a live round TIGHT in the chamber. The bolt won't close, and is now removed. I have tried tapping the butt on the ground (mortaring), and using a 1/4" steel rod to drift it out through the muzzle. It now has Kroil soaking in the barrel to see if it frees it up to try drifting it again.

I'm in no hurry, and I certainly don't want to hurt myself, or my beautiful rifle.

Any, and all suggestions are welcome.

Orbea Hermanos 1920's Vintage Revolvers and Firearms Import Regulation

I'm writing a chapter for a book about Chinese Nationalist procurement of firearms from the U.S. between 1921-23. In 2009, I acquired over 100 documents from that time period which documented procurement and export of Thompson Submachine Guns, Broomhandle Mausers, and hundreds of Orbea Hermanos S&W copy revolvers, among other very interesting items to export to Nationalist China to combat Chinese warlords. Many of the guns provided samples which were subsequently copied and morphed by the Chinese.

Anyway, during my research, I sorta re-discovered one of the earliest firearm importation regulatory efforts in our nation's history. On March 27, 1922, Judge Learned Hand ruled for Smith and Wesson against Orbea Hermanos of Eibar, Spain for unfair trade practices, issuing a temporary injunction which subsequently turned into a permanent injunction. To quickly summarize, Orbea had been marking their pistols to resemble S&W M&P revolvers, and at a glance, they fooled many buyers to the tune of hundreds of thousands of lost sales to S&W. Orbea fakes were $12 to S&W's $24 at the time. I am summarizing greatly in this post, and trust me, there's a lot more to the story.

My question to those who read this post is as follows:

Do you have an Orbea Hermanos revolver that resembles a S&W M&P, with markings almost the same? Or, do you have an Orbea revolver with gold lettering?

Orbea got past the injunction later in 1922 when they began to highlight their country of origin in gold lettering. Previously, as part of the ruse to fool American buyers, their markings highlighted the "Smith and Wesson" in ".38 Smith & Wesson" caliber. Anyway, I'm looking for examples of pre and post injunction Orbea Hermanos M&P style revolvers of early 1920's vintage. I want to compare photographs, and I'm also interested in acquiring examples of these pistols for my collection, even though they are of substandard quality. My research has led me down a fascinating path, and now I want some examples for myself, lol.

eForm 3 Transfer Times During Gov’t Shutdown?

Does anyone know if the NFA Examiners processing eForms (transferable guns) are still “on duty” and working? Or maybe they are “working“, but it’s just taking longer now? Has anyone done one of these amidst the current gov’t shutdown, and can comment on how long it took? Recently - but before the shutdown - eForm 3’s for transferable guns were only taking 1-2 days, but I’ve got no idea what’s going on now..

Swedish Lahti M40 - Fun And Accurate Military Pistol

I have to admit that I have a thing for Swedish firearms. Ever since my Dad started buying Swedish Mausers in 1986 as a result of the positive effects of the McClure-Volkmer Act (FOPA), and gave me one for my 21st birthday, I've appreciated their quality, and they've continued to catch my attention at gun shows. Anyway, a few years ago on Sturm, someone posted a Swedish Lahti M40 Pistol with holster for sale, and I jumped on it.

The Swedish Lahti M40 is based on the Finnish Lahti L-35 pistol. It's a heavy 9mm pistol that is often mistaken for a Luger at a glance, but it has more angular features, and a different bolt mechanism. I have one of about 10,000 Danish Police models that Sweden sold to Denmark after WWII.

When I first shot my M40, I was impressed by its accuracy, and how fun it is to shoot. I have many 9mm pistols, and I think for the fun factor, this is my favorite one to shoot.

From a collector perspective, there are some accessories that can be had for the M40 that add to its fun factor. The Swedish manuals that cover the other Swedish M40 (Colt Thompson Submachine Gun) also cover the Lahti M40 Pistol. I'd like to find an individual Swedish manual for the Lahti M40...I'm pretty sure they exist, but don't recall ever seeing one. Anyway, there are a couple of different holsters, and a cleaning rod, lanyard, and loading tool that are specific to the M40 Pistol.

Posted below is a picture of 2 holsters and the accessories that I have for my M40. I forgot to include a manual in the picture. Going from memory, I believe the brownish holster is an Air Force model and the black one is an Army model. I may be mistaken...maybe someone here can clarify, or I can find the information in one of my books.

Was approached for a Vickers parts kit. Was supplied with several photos including one with my user name and date. None showed on a reverse image or AI search. Sent payment which was delivered 10 days ago with no communication since. Spoke on the phone prior to sale - does not answer the phone now.

A search of his phone number shows up in a scam report on a Facebook group (I should have searched the number before sending payment).

Be warned: I thought I covered all my bases, but I guess I didn't!
I'll be filing a police report with the Wayne OK PD as well as with the US Post Office. We'll see if I get results.

May OGCA show cancelled

Received an email from OGCA stating that the May display show and all future OGCA shows at the Roberts Centre have been cancelled due to a negligent discharge at the March meeting.

Really a shame the Roberts Centre took this course of action but to me at least it is completely understandable. Hopefully OGCA will be able to find another venue in southwestern Ohio for future events.
