Several other threads have discussed individual states proposing to sell SMG's, and the idea of a possible second ATF Amnesty.

The ATF still has two Amnesty Period options left at their disposal. I believe that the issue is in one sense political (how the Dems will wail) and more importantly what guns would be covered by the Amnesty. Now that most WW2 vets are no longer here, and Korean / Vietnam vets are passing, families are finding these un-registered guns in attics and basements and don't know what to do. I believe there are a substantial number of guns out there. From the Government's side, another general amnesty is troublesome as there are tons of kits out there that would be hastily manufactured and registered, modern weapons that clearly do not fall into the spirit of Amnesty and more. At the same time, getting what I believe to be a substantial number of non-declared guns into the registry means they won't end up on the street.

I've thought about this over the years and believe that if the ATF were to offer Amnesty II, it would work only if it included US guns produced prior to the Vietnam conflict date and foreign guns through the end of the Vietnam conflict. Clearly excluded would be all M16/M14 platforms and other modern US guns. In addition, to reduce the chance that surplus foreign kits would be hastily assembled into MG's, all foreign and qualified US guns would have to have original receivers (absolutely NO rewelds or over-stamps of any type) and be substantially SN matching guns. So, all WW2 and Korean War guns, US or otherwise would be eligible as long as they were essentially SN matching. Moving into the Vietnam war era, Thompsons, M3's, MAT 49's, KM50's, PPSH's, M45's and early version AK's would make the cut. M16's and M14's would not as they were and are US property guns.

The ATF would have the obligation and right to examine any particular gun where the provenance was in question or the gun did not fit the amnesty guidelines.

	What do you guys think?

140-AA89: Interstate Transport and Temporary Export of National Firearms Act - NPRM

ATF is proposing to update the administrative process for transporting lawfully registered National Firearms Act (NFA) firearms within the United States. Under the proposal, individuals transporting NFA firearms for short-term purposes (365 days or fewer) would no longer be required to submit advance notice to ATF or await approval before departing. Individuals transporting NFA firearms for long-term purposes (more than 365 days) or permanent relocation would still submit notice but would not need to await ATF approval before transporting. This change to ATF Form 5320.20 (Form 20), per 27 CFR § 478.28, is intended to remove an unnecessary regulatory burden on law-abiding NFA firearm owners without affecting applicable federal, state, or local legal requirements.

	Hello...

I'm new to this group and was wondering if someone could give me some help with some questions that I have about my (Registerd Machine Gun) - Colt M16A1 Carbine that I have.

	Serial Number: 9270785

	1) I was wondering when it was manufactured?

	2) It has a brass deflector or a "Burton Bump" on a M16A1 upper with M16A1 Sights and carry handle. Was the rifle manufacutred this way or has it been altered (because it has a brass deflector)?

	3) Is it possibly a Colt C7 and what is a Colt C7 rifle?

	4) I have fired the rifle a couple of times with an upper that wasn't part of the rifle when I got. The previous owner did the same and I was told that the orig. upper has never been fired (But who knows). Any Idea what its worth?

	5) If a guy was wanting to sell a Machine Gun, are there any dealers better than others to sell to? I'm NOT looking to sell right now, but there will come a day will come a day that I will want to get rid of it.

	6) Have FRT's hurt the machine gun market?

Finally was able to walk RIA through the process to figure out which 9mm caliber (Para, Steyr or Mauser) the gun was originally. They only listed it as a 9mm. The bad news is that it's a 9mm Mauser so rewatting it as anything but 7.62 Tokarev is going to be pretty impractical. The parts to build it in 7.62 Tok are available but the ammo is not as economical as it once was

So a little "Caveat Emptor" is in order for anyone thinking it's a 9 Para

April 25th, 2026 we will be hosting our 2nd "Big Bore Blast" MG and DD shoot. Located at Southington hunt club range in Garrettsville Ohio.

We will start the day with hours of open range to blast away at cars and other targets. With a break before dinner as an opportunity for owners to do presentations and demonstrations of their cannons and other unique weapons. Along with a mortar competition. Then finish the event with a night shoot (sunset about 8pm).

Camping spots will be available. Some with electric hookups. Food vendors will be on site for lunch and dinner.

This year we will have reserved firing line positions, that will be plenty deep to have ample room for setup(12ft wide, or get a 6ft half spot). There is a jungle walk course that will be run by a great training group. Some side bays will be available for companies to reserve for product demonstrations, and we are planning on having a subgun competition practice stage just for fun.

MG rentals will be available for all attendees to try out. Last year the available rentals included a minigun and live 40mm HEDP grenade launcher rounds from Washington County Machinguns.

We had some vendors last year but the positioning wasn't the best on the property. I plan to fix that this year with a better setup location and more vendors. If you are interested in setting up, we would most likely be happy to have you.

We are currently seeking any sponsors interested in helping out with the event. As sponsorship money and support really helps to ensure that this kind of thing is successful and can continue to happen. Email me if your are interested or know someone that may be. Jacob.chevtec@gmail.com

I need some insight from members who have been there or know of.

Okay, here we go. One of our brethren members and I have traded over the last couple of years. I traded 2 select fires and some $ and he was going to send me a pre-May 1928 and American 180 with some goodies. He told me the guns needed to be transfered from paper for 4s to from 3s. It had been quite a while but we were in tough through texts. Unfortunately I got a call from an under sheriff today letting me know my guns were sold and there is nothing left. I guess he turned himself into the authorities yesterday. He owes me 3 subguns or $31500. He owes some else a lot more. So the guns were sent to him as payment and then he sold them to someone else. Sounds like selling and double sellings guns and not coming up with the goods.

Not Converted HK94's-True/False?

Hello Fellow members: I came across a very interesting auction for MP5s. I am posting this here because I know many of you understand the NFA process and difference between Post Samples, Pre Samples and Fully Transferable guns. The auction is by the Miami Dade police department selling off some inventory so the funds can be used to purchase equipment for the Swat team. Follows in Italics is the language from the ad. First one fact. Almost all the MP5s in the registry as transferable are converted HK94s and remarked to say MP5 on the receiver but the paperwork still says HK94. Another belief is that there are only a half dozen Real MP5s in the registry and that is because they were here prior to the 1968 cutoff. Reason:

They were too expensive and not well known in the mid 60s. HK was having a whale of a time getting sales for these guns.

the ad follows

These firearms and suppressors are National Firearms Act items. These firearms and suppressors must be transferred on an ATF Form 5. Although it is not required by the ATF, we are requiring that anyone wishing to procure these items have a federal firearms license. The firearms were imported for government/law enforcement use and not as sales samples. The sales sample restriction remains on the firearm for the life of the firearm. However, firearms imported for government use and were actually used by the government agency, i.e. weren’t imported to circumvent the National Firearms Act (NFA) import restrictions, may be transferred by the government agency. Here, the firearms were imported for the government agency and actually used by the agency for approximately 30 years, so the import clearly wasn’t intended to circumvent the NFA import restrictions, thus the firearms are transferable. The Miami-Dade Police Department will be transferring the firearms on an ATF Form 5 to the winning bidders. They may then be transferred on an ATF Form 4. These are fully transferable weapons.

Another part of the ad

All of the information provided in requirements was derived directly from the NFA branch of the ATF. I will stress that this is not a claim! We have already successfully transferred four of these weapons (same circumstances and from the same batch of MP5 9mm's) in the previous month and all followed the same ATF guidelines.

I called the number in the ad and the person said all the above info that he is relying on came from ATF and he copied and pasted from an e mail he got. He was NOT willing to either give me a copy of what he got or any name of anyone in the NFA branch who could confirm this. If true, these guns are worth a fortune and

there are about 6 left. the first two sold in the mod twenties and the two that just sold fetched 48 with buyer premium.

Many of us have seen Pre86 samples transfer on a form 3 without any restrictions since it was erroneously left of the form. That doesnt change the status and that sample is not fully transferable to an non FLL/SOT.

It is my understanding that if its imported after the 68 cutoff, that it cannot be fully transferable regardless

of the intentions and regardless of how long the dept had them.

below is a link to the actual ad and I would be very interested to hear any input and comments

https://www.govdeals.com/index.cfm?fa=Main.Item&itemid=7629&acctid=7167

The auction was for one week and the bids jumped from 24k to 48k on the last day!!!

Anyone that I shared this auction with did not believe the claims that they are fully transferable.

The guns are rough and needed to be refinished. The gamble that I wouldnt take is to bid, buy the gun, get it on a form 3 with no restrictions. Then sell it and have the form 4 disapproved and

then "try" to recover the purchase price from the seller 6 months or more after the initial auction purchase!! Good luck with that. No one that I know would bid on that since they did not believe

the unfounded representations.

I am anxious to hear board members opinions on this

American 180 help

We received an American 180 from Europe and it appears to be malfunctioning. The trigger will not trip the sear - appears to be too short.

Would someone who has one be willing to compare with theirs. Is it the trigger that is broken or the sear? Looking at it, it seems the sear has been cut so it no longer engages the trigger or the safety. I expect I'll just add a weld to the end to extend it then mill/file as required.

I am simply amazed they got it out this quickly, government never acts this fast. System seems to be clogged at times, I've heard of some trying for hours to get an e-file submitted, and others going right through. System freezes up some, which I fully expected, but it hasn't totally crashed, which I figured would happen. New world out there!

A friend and fellow dealer posted on FB this morning that over 600,000 Form 4's have been submitted since Jan. 1. And yet the system didn't crash, although there have been some freezes and slow upload of data. Approval times are very reasonable too, taking from one to 4-5 days max. Astounding!

The spring tension on my MG15 Doppeltrommel needs to be adjusted for it to work with my new-to-me C&R MG15. The tension on one side is pretty stiff, and on the other side pretty loose. I've already cleaned out the insides pretty well (one was half full of sand). I have a winder, board and slotted tool (representative picture below), just need to get the spring tension set.

Are there any instructions available on how to do it? As far as I can tell, JBaum's book on the MG15 doesn't go into that.

	Thanks.
