Wish this baby could talk! Just a hunch on my part, but would not be surprised it was in Vietnam. The overall condition, patina and pitting, indicates to me it has seen some action. I forgot to include the bayonet I have for it. I just oiled it up, hence the shine on the stock.

There are the obvious "trench guns" with the bayonet adaptors fastened to the barrel. There are also other model 12's that are US marked on the receiver along with the military acceptance stamps on the stock etc. What is the difference between these models and what were they used for?? There is a dramatic difference in price between a trench gun and the Model 12 with just US markings.

thx

Looking to build a 97 trench clone?

https://www.sarcoinc.com/winchester-97-trench-gun-bayonet-lug-heat-shield-with-screws/?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=Tuesday+Blast+10-26-2021&utm_id=Tuesday+Blast+10-26-2021

Vietman 1897 bring back?

What a stretch this one is

https://www.gunbroker.com/Item/913181269

Remington 10A riot

Were the riot barrels marked with the serial number like the trench guns or not?

I'm looking at one that seems correct but has no barrel serial number

Model 12 Trench at RIA...

sells for $12,650

https://www.rockislandauction.com/detail/1037/760?utm_source=Rock+Island+Auction+News&utm_campaign=47eccb50e8-2021_06_15_1037_Thank_You&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_1f4b8db853-47eccb50e8-232892198

Very Rare Model 1897 Trench Gun

As the add says this is a very rare commercial made Model '97 trench gun made in the early 30's.

https://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-for-sale-online/shotguns/winchester-shotguns-model-97/winchester-model-1897-trench-shotgun-in-very-rare-civilian-model.cfm?gun_id=101648367

Opinions on Ithaca 37 US marked

Organizing the safe and pulled this one from the back. Had for 8-10 years, 989xxx serial number. Parkerized with 20 cyl marked barrel and never drilled for front sight, under barrel is not recessed for a heat shield. No sling swivels and plastic buttplate. Interested to hear what people think about it and if its a real deal military gun.

Now that my M12 is done I can get started again on a Stevens/Riverside 520A that I bought in 2019. Planning on leaving the original 30 inch bbl alone but building a second trenchgun bbl assembly. Another of JMB’s brilliant creations. I’ve since found an ‘in the white’ heat shield, bbl, mag tube plus action bar, lower swivel and a plain stock and pump handle from GPC. Started bluing things yesterday. Coming along.

Update—started fitting the too proud stock to the tangs and recvr today.

Hey guys, I recently had someone offer to trade me his Winchester M12 plus $500 cash for one of my ARs, and I just came here for knowledge on the subject of the M12 as Ive never really been into it. He says the gun was produced in 1941, has no ordnance markings, and was a M12 he made look like a trench gun by adding the heat shield and a 1917 GI bayonet. Regardless, I think adding a slam fire to the collection will be neat, but I just was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what Im getting myself into. The stock set seems to be in pretty rough shape with a coupe cracks

Thanks in advance

Rob

Hello, scrolling past this forum and seeing all the talk on real vs fake military trench guns reminded me of an old part I've had for 8-10 years now. It's the business end of what I hope is a model 12 trench gun, without a heat shield. Serial number 1020177. I bought a mixed up model 12 on gb kind of on a whim because it was so cheap, I sold of the receiver section but kept the barrel end. It's grooved for the heat shield screws, if I remember correctly its marked CYL, don't recall if there are other military markings. It's in deep storage back at my Dad's house, I just have these phone pictures I took a couple years ago. It's always been a 'maybe I'll do something with this one day' thing.

Rambling aside I've only got a couple pictures right now but I'm interested in hearing any opinions on its authenticity and value.
