Here's a really good photo of original M1941 Johnson semi-automatic rifle barrel markings. Note the Netherlands Purchasing Commission sword-in-circle acceptance marking. I've noticed that sometimes the barrel component serial numbers match each other and sometimes they don't. Chilean contract 7mm barrels lack the NPC marks and were made in Mexico City. They're simply marked "7mm".

I have been trying to join the Johnson Rifle Site Bulletin Board with no success. Each time I get a notice that I failed to pass the security check. This is the case with my desk top, my wife's desk top, my work desk top, my work lap top and my I phone.

Can anyone offer an idea as to why this happens?

A M1941 Johnson Light Machine gun sold at the December 2023 Rock Island Auction for $141,000 shattering the previous record in September 2023 of $68,400. Of course, one auction doesn't set the prevailing market price but it is indicative of the strong demand for a genuine transferable Johnson LMG.

The Model Of 1941 Johnson Rifle In Marine Service | An Official Journal Of The NRA (americanrifleman.org)

Have one, in original almost new condition. It works very well. It's probably a mistake to try to compare the M1941 to the M1 Garand since the only characteristics the guns share are their semi-automatic nature and the use of the Caliber .30 M2 cartridge.

The example that I own has proven to be both accurate and reliable. The ability to load the M1941's magazine with five-round stripper clips or single rounds is a real advantage. Whie the rifle has a last round bolt hold-open feature, it's far easier to load the magazine with the bolt forward. For this reason, M1941 equipped Marines often removed and discarded the hold-open mechanism.

Since the gun is recoil operated, cleaning is a breeze. You just remove the barrel in a ten second operation and clean the bore and chamber. The rest is a wipe down since unlike gas operated rifles, there's no powder residue left in the action after firing. While the rifle can be disassembled, there is really no valid reason to do so. Disassembly leaves you with small parts which could be easily lost in a field situation. Assembly is not intuitive.

The sling and scabbard in the pics are repros.

Strippers that do not have correctly positioned nibs will follow the cartridges into the mag when the rounds are press into the feedway and mag.
From pics in Canfield's Johnson book, the strippers appear to have two nibs on each side and each placed the correct distance back of the ends to appropriately stop the stripper from going into the feedway.

Does anyone have a few of theses they'd sell to me or a source for them?

DROR Parts.

I have some misc. These weapons were from the Winchester collection. I believe that a number of class III weapons were purchased by R.J. Perry, notably a number of Johnson l.m.g.s including some very rare models -- the M1945, possibly the "T" series of belt-fed Johnson machine guns, etc. These were offered in a R.J. Perry catalog. I've been trying to find this catalog -- or someone willing to copy for me the pages that have the Johnsons for sale. Does anyone have this catalog and would they be willing to copy it for me? I can't afford a great deal, but will compensate for the copying and mailing costs. (or better yet, scan it -- maybe post it here. . .) Note, that R.J. Perry was offering these guns is to the best of my recollection -- might have been another Class III dealer.

Johnson Barrel Fixture

Many years ago I was building new Johnson barrels for Mil-Tech in California. I used .30 barrel blanks and some new Springfield 03A3 barrels supplied by Mil-Tech. The 4 attached parts were from used Johnson barrels. In order to attach these parts in perfect alignment I built a fixture (jig) to hold these parts on the barrel while I drilled and reamed them for taper pins. I still have the fixture and would sell it for a reasonable price if anybody wants to get into the Johnson barreling business. Have a few parts but not many. I can supply pictures via email but "PLEASE" only to those really interested in buying it. Thanks
