The American Eagle that came with my rifle is, to put it mildly, less than satisfactory. It strings vertically to the point that it's impossible to establish a good 300 yard zero. I talked to the people at 50 BMG Supply about it and they characterized it as "out-of-spec rejects from the Lake City ammo plant." They blamed the vertical stringing on wide variances in powder charge. They hold their ball reloads to much tighter tolerances but say the accuracy is still not great because the GI bullets are simply not that accurate.

I know that I can get very good accuracy out of either Hornady or 50 BMG Supply match ammo but I'm looking for something a bit less expensive for plinking at 600 and closer

Loading my own is out of the question. I'm not going to invest in the equipment needed to roll .50 BMG for what is going to be a fairly low use rifle. I've read some good reviews of both IMI and PMC ball and I have some IMI on order. Are their other options that I should be looking at?

.50 Blue Training Rounds

At some point I plan to mount them all in a display case and show the range from .22 short to 50 BMG. But no luck with 50 BMG.

I would be interested in purchasing a single round to complete my collection. Under a specific set of circumstances, moving the fire selector from Safe to Fire results in a discharge of the weapon. I've illustrated it in the video linked below. Essentially, the sequence is as follows:

1. With the weapon on Safe, insert a round, and close the breach. Then move the selector to Fire, and discharge the weapon by pulling the trigger.

2. Move the selector to Safe, and remove the bolt and spent case, mount a new round to the bolt and close the breach. Now, when moving the selector from Safe to Fire, the firing pin will release and the round will be discharged without any trigger action.

Please let me know if you are a LAR Grizzly Big Boar owner and can duplicate these results (as in the video). Thanks!

At the 1st thereof , my nephew and his wife came down for a visit , havn't seen them for near 12-13 years . We made a couple of day long trips to the range and we took the M82A1 out . Just plinking , don't you know . We shot from 100 yards to way out there ( 2-21/4 second fly time ) . The three of us went through about half a can of spotter tracer .

He went back home , then along came Memorial day . Went out with about 8-10 friends and shot . The Barrett went along . All but one tried her out , including a couple of teenagers and a wife . Heck , even a couple of strangers tried a shot or two . Target was a rock about chest sized at 550-600 yards . It's a bit smaller , now .Went through the other half can of spotter / tracer , so about 150 rounds this month . No one thought it was painful nor would they turn down another chance .

Again , if you have the means and a place to stretch it's legs , I highly recommend you get one .

Chris

Making frangible rounds with .300WM brass?

Is there an easy way to form .300WM brass to make frangible rounds for the .50BMG?

Any recommendations?
