The Star Z63. OK, so it's Spanish and not Italian but I didn't know where else to post it...

The stock can be unfolded when magazine is still in place...

Stock fully extended...

Dual action trigger...pull the bottom part of the trigger for semi-auto and the top part of the trigger for full-auto...

The finish, design and folding stock remind me of the Sterling -- Perhaps call it the "Starling"...

Double stack, double feed magazine for easy loading and reliability...

This is a Costa Rican contract gun, so in 7mm mauser. Anyone know if the mag box was proprietary? Or if one in 6.5 will fit? Sources?

I have a sling, made of web material, European type, not U.S. Length app 42 in, width app 7/8ths 2.5 cm, leather end tab in a greenish leather. I have heard that early tropical MP 38a slings were made. There are no markings as I can see. Possible Italian tropical sling? Let me know! Thanks!

Building 38A out of Model 5 parts kit

I have purchased two Beretta Model 5 parts kits to build one semi-auto gun. But I hate the thought of not using the rest of a kit when I’m done.

Is it possible to convert the Model 5 into a 38A model? I need a second barrel, and Indianapolis Ordnance has newly made 38A barrels available.

Was there a 98K type sling, German type roller buckle, end of the sling had a stud fitted through holes, brown leather? I have seen some for sale, don't think they are marked. Are these slings post war or wartime used?

The listing says it's for a MAB38/44 but all the 38/44 bolts that Ive seen are one-piece. Like this one

The one listed had a separate bolt head, bolt base and an insert that holds a replaceable firing pin

It looks like the two pieces are held together by a cross pin of some sort that also secures the firing pin holder

I cannot begin to figure out the huge cutout in the left rear of the bolt head. There is simply nothing there on a MAB38/44 that it would engage or have to clear, very strange

Last year I bought a Beretta 38/42 from Morphy's that had a stock finished in an incredibly ugly high-gloss urethane. If you care to you can see the original on Forgotten Weapons where Ian did both a bench exam and a field test of this exact gun and even commented on the ugly stock finish

I picked up a well worn stock that was included in a parts kit and sent it to Dan Block (deerslayer). I wanted to preserve its character so I asked him not to make it pretty but simply remove all the embedded dirt and grime, reinforce one old crack repair but to the extent possible leave all the nicks, dents and scratches intact and to refinish it with a military oil finish. Here's the end result. I think Dan nailed it. I couldn't be happier

Has anyone ever seen any pouches that are post war for any series of Beretta SMG's I have combed through more information and pictures than I would like to admit and couldn't find anything on them especially from 1950-1999. Does anyone use any alternative pouches for their gun when they take them to the range?

What are thoughts on the latest value of a 38/42 fluted with all the right marks? I have been on the fence with selling it and again contemplating whether I should. The site that values them based on prior sales pegs it at right around 30ish. Does that seem accurate?

Hi all!

I’ve recently taken ownership of an old 1974 model 12, I’m in the uk so unfortunately it has been deactivated or demilled to meet our current firearm laws. It appears the gun was deactivated back in 2020 by a company called world wide arms.

My question is can anyone tell me anything about the firearms history? Was it a police weapon?

I’m also wondering if it has been factory reworked as I’ve noticed the pistol grips are slightly different in colour, and I’ve also noticed several other examples the same. I’ve attached images to show this.

any info is greatly appreciated!

My end cap on Beretta 38/42 has a center cut that looks like a "keyhole" not a standard round one.

Is there a different type of recoil spring guide to fit into it ?

Current Value - Beretta 38/42

I wanted to get a sense of current values of a Beretta 38/42 and thought this would obviously be one of the best forums to obtain good information - especially sense there are few for sale or sold and the ranges are pretty extreme. Gun is a carry-back, 1968 Amnesty with a current stamp. Seems to be in good condition, war used and is unmolested. Blue is certainly worn (probably appropriate for the age and function) and all numbers appear to be matching. Gun-smithed recently by a class III dealer and they said it was in proper condition. They had one concern about the stock, however, after further investigation (taking the butt plate off), it was either repaired a very long time ago or produced from the factory. The perceived defect is that the stock has a fine line that looks like a crack, however is perfectly straight and has a dovetail joint running the length (certainly not a field repair). I can certainly post pics shortly, just need to access the gun to take new ones. Any specific pics needed? Any thoughts are much appreciated!
