	Just received a FBP parts kit from Atlantic arms.    I bought it for the recoil mechanism and bolt/extractor.    Seems to be in fairly good condition.
</p>

<p>
	My question is, are there any other parts that are compatible with the MP40?   I haven't compared parts side by side nor put a micrometer on it but some parts look similar - barrel nut, sling ring, etc.   Perhaps with a little fitting the sear could be modified for use in the MP40?   Can I use any of the pins, springs, etc on the MP40 or even a STEN?    Just don't have the room to store parts that are of no use to me.
</p>

<p>
	As always, your advise is appreciated.

	OK, this question is so simple I'm embarrassed to be asking it.    But I've learned a lot by not being so proud that I avoid asking questions.    So here goes!
</p>

<p>
	When I'm reassembling my MP40 using an FBP bolt, I'm having issues getting the buffer to sit in the slot/depression in the back of the lower receiver.   Obviously, if it's not aligned properly the bolt will not fully cycle.  But what's the trick to getting the buffer to fall into the hole and be correctly aligned?   I've tried holding the gun muzzle up and shaking the gun trying to seat the buffer but it's hit or miss.  After attempting to seat the buffer, I release the Receiver lock screw pin and attempt to cycle the bolt.   If it's not aligned, the bolt won't cycle and then I have to start the takedown process over again.  I've tried standing on one leg and even closing one eye and whistling dixie but am still frustrated.   Yes, that's a joke but I'm seriously asking how others reassembly and get the buffer seated correctly the first time.
</p>

<p>
	Appreciate the replies.

	Hello All,
</p>

<p>
	My first post on this Forum (re: picking up a Thompson SMG):
</p>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" data-embedauthorid="304858" data-embedcontent="" data-embedid="embed3227051229" style="height:390px;max-width:500px;" data-embed-src="https://www.machinegunboards.com/forums/index.php?/topic/29721-assistance-with-an-addition-to-my-collection/&amp;do=embed"></iframe>

<p>
	was so successful that I'm back for more.
</p>

<p>
	This time around I'm in the hunt for a nice representative example of a World War Two MP-40 and - as was the case with my Thompson purchase - I would greatly appreciate your input. I'd like a C&amp;R eligible (transferable directly to me) example that I can put an occasional magazine through.
</p>

<p>
	While an all numbers-matching numbers piece would be optimal, my understanding is that those are not often found - even in the case of WW2 bring-backs - so I will likely have to relax my expectations a bit.
</p>

<p>
	To start the conversation and to establish a frame of reference, what are your collective thoughts on this one with respect to price, condition and collectability:
</p>

<p>
	<a href="https://chestercountyarmory.com/product/original-wwii-german-mp40-erma-1943-9x19mm-transferable-submachine-gun-cr-eligible/" rel="external nofollow">https://chestercountyarmory.com/product/original-wwii-german-mp40-erma-1943-9x19mm-transferable-submachine-gun-cr-eligible/</a>
</p>

<p>
	Naturally, if anyone has - or knows of - a nice MP-40 for sale, I would appreciate hearing from you.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks in advance for your thoughts and input,
</p>

	Have blanks for approximately 20 now....Solid model should be done this week. As soon as I finish running 9mm AR barrels, I will get the code loaded and get them turned. Additional milling operations after that for extractor cut and feed ramp.. I have a source for a very nicely finished front sight body as well. Like to hear comments on finish preferred.
</p>

<p>
	1. In the white. As turned.
</p>

<p>
	2. I have capability to cold rust blue. Very pleasing and durable finish.
</p>

<p>
	3. Black nitride (aka Nitro Carburizing or FMC Black) Increases surface hardness and wearability along with corrosion resistance
</p>

<p>
	If you want a barrel give me a shout at the shop by phone or email so I can determine if additional blanks are necessary Hope to be starting an MP40 category on the website (maconarmory.com) soon. Looking at making replacement barrels, sears, and resting bars at the moment. I will list stripped barrels initially and complete as a special order....and I will be confirming function in multiple MP40's
</p>

<p>
	I may have limited availability on front sights, front sight bases, buffer recoil spring bodies, muzzle nuts, firing pins, split rings, barrel nuts, (2 and 6 flats) and the safety ring, and barrel loops. This availability should improve as I am looking at a new machine suited to producing small parts faster than my large 4 axis mill. hope to have the first batch of barrel done late March early April

	This one is pretty neat.....aluminum with original cocking handle, has a rear sight assembly epoxied on that I would prefer to keep but it can go if necessary. The rear ia plugged and it has a mock up of a bolt and buffer inside. Had some really cheesy paint on it so I bead blasted to be ready to paint, cerakote....whatever you choose. I need a good shooter barrel....recently picked up one that was deep chambered.....so I have to get around to sleeving it....and rechambering. Don't need a barrel nut or muzzle nut...I has plenty...could use the locking rings....But those are easy enough to make...:-) What I am looking for is a barrel with a front sight.....I have shrouds as well just want a barrel with a sight.
</p>

<p>
	I just realized I forgot a number...asking $250 but negotiable....will always trade for parts. I'm looking for a center section to complete a third reweld set.....have a nice nose piece....looking for a piece that is cut at or under rear magwell band to about 1.5 inches from the locking tabs at the rear. I have Rear sight base so no worries if it is removed.
</p>

	I just noticed that Centerfire Systems has the Portuguese  FBP sub gun kits for sale, $150, so you can get the bolt and recoil assembly from that kit to use in your MP40 and preserve the original parts. No affiliation, just thought I'd mention it.

	Hello everyone. I am looking for some guidance. 15 years ago I was given a demilled MP40. It had been in the Cabela’s corporate office displayed in a VP’s office. HR came in and told him that it needed to go and it found its way home with me. Since then it has stayed in my gun safe getting shown off to other gun guys in my circle. While I think it’s cool it’s not my style of gun.<br />

</p>

<p>
	Recently I saw a video (mattexplodesstuff) on Instagram of him shooting his new to him mp40. He mentioned the mags were expensive. This put me down a rabbit hole of understanding what value I had with my mp40.
</p>

<p>
	It seems like these parts are pricey. I looked around gunbroker and didn’t see any parts really changing hands. The further searches led me here. <br />

</p>

<p>
	My questions:
</p>

<p>
	Is there anyway to make it shootable legally? Maybe in a semi auto with SBR classification. I won’t be getting an SOT anytime soon
</p>

<p>
	Is there a need for good conditioned parts?  Outside of the barrel (the rifling is in good condition) and front site having matching numbers the rest of the gun is not.
</p>

<p>
	Anyone in need of a display piece?
</p>

<p>
	I would be more happy getting it to someone who would appreciate it and freeing up cash something else.
</p>

	I was curious if there would be much of a market interest in copies of MP-38 or MP-40 receivers for display builds or other builds if licensed? Was thinking about selling some perhaps if many would be in the market. An example of an display mp40 tube.

	I am in the process of purchasing a tube MP40 and I am picking up accessories. The magazines are spendy, and I am checking with the forum to see how you guys store them? I was hoping to get something that would protect them, and not just a box where they can bang around. <br />
	Also, what kind of case do you use to carry your MP40? <br />
	Thanks,<br />

	Since I have limited experience working on MP40’s and I have a couple people inquiring about MP40 restorations, I decided that I should learn about them….took a Phila Ord display tube and complete German WWII MP40 and made a post sample out of it…the joke is Gordon kitten made me do it because he looked so cute laying in the middle of the kit when I was documenting the markings. <br />
