Are those two cell magazine pouches on left hand side of both airmen, Colt .45 pistol mag pouches?

i CAN'T IMAGINE IF IN 1971 TILL AT LEAST 1980 THIS BOARD WAS AROUND AND I WAS POSTING ON IT WITH ALL THE STUFF.EVEN MY 1975/76 ADS FROM SHOTGUN NEWS. Yikes would i hear the tales and you can't do that is that gun real and a Colt's not worth $2,500 but i only had Earl and a few other guys to deal with.wow it was simpler times....

Here are a few more pics for everyone’s viewing pleasure. Please chime in if you have any additional insight or if you want to correct me for being dead wrong! Based on its features and stampings, I would say this is likely a Lend-Lease gun from the British order of 400,000 units in 1942. US marked, no Brit stamps, L sight, vertical grip, cutts compensator, etc. The interesting thing to me is that it looks like it was never “adapted” for British use. No forward sling swivel was ever added to the vertical grip, and the buttstock swivel is still located in the original position at the bottom of the stock. In my limited research, I understand that the brits almost categorically moved the swivel to the top of the buttstock, while mounting a forward swivel to the (usually right) side of the vertical grip. Of course the possibility exists that the wood furniture was added later, but it sure looks like original to the gun. My inclination would be to think that this was potentially unissued, but at the same time it seems unlikely that the Brits would pay such an exorbitant amount for each Thompson and not get use out of every one of them. Please educate me!

The Larry Vickers' investigation really stirred up the ATF on post samples. In 2021, while the Vickers' case was going on, we reorganized our company under a new FFL. We tried to transfer our post sample M16 from the old FFL to the new FFL. It was denied three different times. So we tried having the sheriff write a demo request. The ATF called the sheriff and whatever was said spooked him. He called and said he was rescinding the letter. We finally just chopped up the M16 to get it off the inventory. I believe that the Vickers case was the reason we couldn't get our post sample transferred.
