  1. Back in the dim dark past, I was a gunner on a Centurion tank in the Australian Army. Petrol engined. 27.4 litres of Rolls Royce Meteor V12. Mileage ? Are you ready ? On a good day we got 3 gallons to the mile. Oh, that's Imperial gallons. In nice round figures, that's about 3.5 US gallons to the mile. Can you say "fuel efficient" ?
  2. Nice pair, Anders. The '28 looks like a Brit one as it has the sling swivel relocated to the top of the butt with a SMLE sling. Does it have British proof marks ?
  3. Michael, if you find a book by Ian Skennerton titled " Australian Service Machineguns", you will find pictures. Australian Thompsons had the same modification, as well as the forend sling swivel relocated to the left side of the horizontal foregrip. However, they didn't use ( to my knowledge) the Kerr sling. Rather, the SMLE .303 sling was used, which should be in plentiful supply still. Hope this helps. Regards, Ken
  4. The Vickers could have been the GO or K type. These were the gas operated aircraft machine guns with a top mounted drum. Just a thought.
  5. Could be worse, fellas. You could live in AUSTRALIA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/sad.gif
  6. Interesting. If anyone is interested, I'm embarking on a conversion to an M1 carbine shortly - to 7.62 x 25. A 1 in 10' twist barrel will be used and I'll be firing Sierra 168 grain Matchkings ! Any questions ?
  7. I found an interesting phenomenon. I was using a batch of mixed cases, Norinco and Fiocchi, and found that due to the difference in case hardness, the rate of fire varied throughout the firing of the mixed ammo. The Norinco cases with the noticably softer brass had a lower rate of fire with the same powder/bullet combo. Easy solution. Batched my brass and used an extra half a grain of 231 in the Norinco cases.
  8. Excellent read. May the traitors hang eventually. Sooner rather than later would be good.
