  1. One of the guys over on Subguns has a bolt stuck to the rear when shooting his 1928A1 Savage Thompson with factory ammo. With the bolt stuck to the rear and not releasing forward he can not get the gun field stripped to find the problem. http://subguns.com/boards/mgmsg.cgi?read=808767 Figure Ken could use some help from the experts and from my point of view was wondering how common of issue this is, once know the root cause?
  2. Thanks - that became apparent that after getting a great deal on Business Insurance for the new company, that I had a couple million coverage on only a few things, anything else needed a rider - but was enough to do work. Probably won't cover nuclear war / attack but will risk that one ;-)
  3. Thanks will check "Collectors Insurance" Gun safe helps but not when one is traveling with firearms, plus keep them in the lock boxes when not in use (easy to do with HK sears, the 1919A4 box just fits ;-). Take Care John
  4. Looking for other options and in particular experience, on insurance for machine guns and firearms in general. Currently using NRA Armscare but thinking can do better than the 1.74% per year. Also Armscare was at times low on what they would allow with out an appraisal. The Thompson M1A they were thinking at $12K max w/o appraisal.
  5. The other three questions How much? Does Merle have a web page Lastly does Merle need a web page (always glad to put one together for the good guys and sure everyone here could supply enough content ;-).
  6. I know what you mean, when the ISSMC stopped, I actually got back to planting the garden and having a life in the spring / early summer. Liked the match, but really did take one's free time. Probably a few "farm" shoots this weekend. Living in interesting times at the moment, hope to see you in the Fall. Regards John
  7. Paul good to see you over here, how are you taking have a spring free for once (or twice) in your life :-) A photo of a DIY setup from the 2003 ISSMC shoot. http://www.issmc.com/images/2003/oldandnew_mh.jpg Not a red dot but an interesting Thompson photo from a later ISSMC with a Thompson only class. http://www.issmc.com/images/2006/ISSMC-06-Match/images/img_3908.jpg
  8. Thanks the parts kit was re finished by the guy at KCR with a blue/finish similar to or the "same" as WWII guns, but being a parts kit there are some defects / pits that have been finished. Has M1A1 bolt. Who has USGI M1 wood now days (the wood on it has see better days).
  9. One of the guys is trading a M1 parts kit towards a larger trade and was wondering what to check for on the M1 Parts Kit? Primary concern I am thinking is condition of barrel, in particular bore and checking for bulge by running patch, looking and feeling the outside. For parts, should have complete lower, barrel with front sight and receiver piece, bolt, recoil spring with retainer, rear sight, wood and ??? Thanks John
  10. Bring up an old posting, but how did adjusting the mags turn out? I have at times on single feed mags had to polish the inside of the feed lips a little, in particular if they have been re-finished. Good Luck
  11. Besides the several excellent reference CDs and books (http://www.machinegunbooks.com/discs.html), on line parts lists can be found at: http://www.nfatoys.com/tsmg/ - See parts list in menu on left, example is for a '21 http://www.gunpartsc...spx?catid=11089 - A few parts available still.
  12. Appears a star shows up to the right of the listed topics .... don't know if this because of the points or that I issued them.
  13. Interesting, this system is based on each and every individual posting, not the member in general as on some other boards. Any way to highlight or sort by the most points, with the current traffic level I tend to hit all the posts at least once for a fast past, however, could help when things are going faster.
  14. Any truth to the "internet Legion" that some of the Russian Thompson's were part of the standard gear on lead lease tanks and then removed when the tanks got to Russia?
