I remember you having a very nice collection. Yea, I'm recently retired and looking for ways to fill my day. At one time, I was really into the Thompson scene after I went to a SAR East show. Then I lost my wife of 42 years to cancer, got an apartment near work to finish out my 52 years of service, 40 years with one company. So now I'm into the stock market, home improimprovements and my Trans Ams. My sons are dealing with life's challenges and really have no interest in guns. So I have to start thinking about selling my guns to not burden the boys with NFA stuff. We all will cross this bridge, but know this is not a fire sale, I don't need the money, just looking to be fair. Darrylta

Hello Jim C and TGCJ, Tom, I'm glad your enjoying the BMR. I just stopped by to see how much Thompsons were selling for these days. I've always said they keep pace with the average new car pricing. I've just reached my 70th birthday and plan on selling most of my guns, say 2 a year. Neither one of my sons have any interest in them unfortunately. I plan on keeping my PK'd 28 West Hurly as a shooter. Tom, have you got around to shooting the BMR. I didn't ever try it since I had a R75 BAR to scratch my BAR itch ? I'll look for the FOIA I got on the BMR and forward it to you when I have a chance. Darryl

TGCJ's BMR is a beauty, hated to part with it but I do need to thin the herd as the saying goes. The 1973 455SD Trans am build I'm doing is costing a lot more than expected! It will be stunning when it's done. I guess my next sale will be a PA. State Patrol Reising with it's hard case and many accessories. Looking to retire in about a year or so that will give me more time for gun and car shows. Tom's transaction was surprisingly quick and some what painless other than the odd NFA Branch questions. Talked to Greg yesterday, looks like the case will be done and shipped in about a week or so I may have to do some final fitting and return it back to him. I decided on the black felt lining a more industrial look, not the royal blue. I'll post some photos of Greg's work after I have it in hand! Thanks, Darryl

I have a couple nice repro Swetnam cases if your interested in trade and some cash.

I came across a Colt lower that was from a French Colt gun. Bought it on GunBroker a decade or so ago. It's serial number 9639 and had PK make some Colt like internals for a Colt like display gun.

Thank you Anticus, people should heed what their doctors say and tell them to do things. In my case I felt I was Superman when I was a young man, and didn't take his advice. Diabetes is a sinister disease, which is hard on your body and eyes. I'm personally having retina problems now. I never had the need to speak to Doug or ever met him in person or at a gun show. I know that he was a wizard with the Thompsons and that he loved them and the community. I can somewhat feel his pain with his eye problems, I'm on the same road myself. I'm hoping to stop the slippage with the help of the John Hopkins Wilmer Eye Center. RIP Doug, Darryl

Dan, I've moved into another hobby of earlier years. I'm restoring a muscle car. One that I bought new in 1973, a Transam 455SD. It was a honeymoon car. Darrylta = Trans Am. Guns as a hobby is a lot easier on the body than laying on a cold concrete floor with a transmission on your chest. I'll try to get the case tracing to you this weekend. Thanks, Darryl
