  1. I do not have an E2 sling as of yet, but I will look for one at the SAR show. For some reason I like having the selector lock installed with the synthetic stock, I think it looks cool.
  2. I recently picked up a Smith Ent. M14 E2. On full auto it was completely uncontrollable, so I converted it to semi only by installing a selector lock on it.
  3. I would like to do a FOIA on a couple of my C&R transferables. Does anyone have a sample letter they could post or send to me? skinnermfg@yahoo.com TIA, David Skinner
  4. Just got back from the USBP academy and will be moving back to the Tucson area. I will be working the Sonoita area.
  5. I have seen the pics of the cases made by Bob@rat-tat-tat and they do look very nice and I have done searches of this forum. I am looking for info on all of the makers and not just the board favorite (no offense intended). I guess I am wanting to get peoples thoughts on the cases being sold by Jerry @ Recon Ordnance.
  6. I am interested in picking up a repro FBI hard case for a 1921A Colt and I have heard that there are a couple of different makers out there. Would thoes who have first hand experiance with repro FBI cases please let me know what they think about the different makers. I have heard of repro cases that rat-tat-tat and Recon Ord offer but have never seen one in person, how do they differ? David Skinner Yuma, AZ
  7. I have been reading American Thunder II and what ever info I can find on the net. I have tried to pick up a copy of the Tracie Hill book but it is out of print. I spoke with Tracie by phone and he told me that a new book should be out sometime this year. I am only wanting to spend up to $25K so I may be limited on the condition of gun I purchase. I am looking at one now for $25K that is supposed to be in 90% condition, all Colt parts and Serial number 7951. It is an "A" model without the Cutts Compensator. I saw the Colt on Sturmgewehr for $36.5K, very nice but out of my price range.
  8. Hello All, I am new to Thompson's and am in the market for a nice 1921 Colt. I have been reading as much as I can about them and now I am searching for the right gun for me and my budget. So far I have looked at a few in person. I just got back from US Auto Weapons in Scottsdale, AZ and found one in "good" condition for $36K and I saw several nice ones at the SAR show in Phoenix, AZ in the $25K price range. What should I be looking for in a "Colt" Thompson and what should I expect to pay for one? I am not looking for a 100% gun but I don’t want a beater either, just something that I would be proud to own and show off. Any help is greatly appreciated. David
  9. The mag that came with the Reising did not have any modifications to it. The only way I can see to use it would be to stick your finger up into the mag well.
  10. I picked up another Reising and it came in this evening. I started to looking over and found a bolt hold open devise on the receiver. I have never heard of a Reising having a bolt hold open. I took the Reising apart and the device appears to be factory original. Has anyone ever seen or heard about one of these. The rifle is in great condition with the exception of a cracked suppressor rib and a replacement stock. BTW: If you have an original H&R Reising Military Stock available for sale or tade let me know. 11. I am looking for a qualified C2/C3 to rebuild my Pre-86 M1A1 Thompson. I purchased an M1A1 parts kit from Omega in Tucson. I am currently working in Iraq and will be home in January. David in Iraq http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ph34r.gif
  12. Arthur, The mood is good over here. As for the political conventions I have not heard anything either way about them. Ron, With the way I have been spending money I am going to have to stay for a long time. David in Iraq http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/ph34r.gif
  13. The seller of Pre-86 1928 craw fished on me. wink, wink! So I am now looking at a West Hurley trasferable 1928 for $12K in like new condition. I have done some searching on the net and connot seem to find any info on the quality of the WH Thompson's. What I would like to know is the following: 1. Will all original WWII parts inchange with the WH 2. Is $12K to much 3. How prone are the receivers to cracking 4. Is it better to just save my cash till I can get the $18K WWII 1928 I have ordered the Tracy Hill book but I am in Iraq so it will be a week or so before it arrives here. David
