  1. Search Poulin Auctions November 2022. I think one has to register. I was sitting there as they sold which is the only reason I know what they ended up selling for. I got my behind handed to me on just about everything I bid on. It wasn't pretty. The people at Poulin were absolutely great.
  2. BSA Thompson went for $85,000 Stoner went for $185,000 FG42 went for $285,000 T2 bid to $80,000, but didn't meet reserve.
  3. I've seen it with WWII militaria, especially German stuff, where authors will write books showcasing their huge collections in beautiful glossy photos. Unfortunately, their collections have so much reproduction junk in them. Those items hit the market and collectors snap them up and "they must be real because they were in so and so's book". You also have those dealers with "I've been in the business over 30-40 years." They will sell you a nicely refinished and forced serial number matched gun as original and unissued with original WWII German (post war copies) accessories and pull the "who are you to question my expertness?" People like that make me glad I don't collect anymore. My dad and four uncles served during WWII. I have the greatest respect for them and what they did. Some enjoyed shooting until their last days. Some never wanted to see another gun. Remembering WWII is not romanticizing it.
  4. Could the pouch be a five cell pouch that has had one of the cells cut off? A buddy gave me one of those screw drivers. I need to find it now knowing I can use it for my Thompson 😉
  5. I know that Jeff writes (or has written) for a couple gun magazines, makes videos and takes photos. I just posted these for the purdy pictures. I suppose I should have put a disclaimer about the info presented doesn't necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the poster 😄
  6. I wasn't involved in the auction and don't have a list. Perhaps someone else here does.
  7. Well, it was backed by the full faith and security of the US Gubermint...so what's not to trust 😄
  8. Is that the one where the government required a $50,000 bond to be able to bid? From what I understood, the bond was applied towards the final hammer price and if you didn't win, it was returned. I guess it was designed to keep big money bidders in the game. That weren't me.
  9. Sorry, I haven't been authorized to share reserve prices from this or past auctions.
  10. IIRC it's the one in my left hand. Not mine. Belongs to my table partner as do the other guns.
  11. I want the '42. Alas, I would have to sell most of my guns to buy it.
  12. Being in the barrel making business, I would pay much more for an original Thompson or Stoner barrel VS what someone (including our darn good barrel mfg company made yesterday. Have them all, so this isn't an offer, just a confirmation.
  13. And in .45 ACP. Asking for a friend. No photos handy, but they are nice.
  14. Way cool, Mike! I can't take the show seriously. Loved it as a kid. I like Captain Deitrich's sense of decency, humanity and his contempt of his higher ups.
  15. And finally, in Season 2 Episode 2. An MP40 with an MP40 mag pouch.
  16. Sorry, didn't think to look for previous posts. I can forgive American halfback and postwar tanks, but have to draw the line at USMC marked gas cans in German use.
  17. Noticed the lack of spare mags, but they seem to have a bottomless one in the gun. The Germans with the MP40's still have 98 pouches. Also odd for Long Range Desert Patrol (Troy's words) is they only carry three five gallon gas/water cans in each jeep. Horribly written, scripted, directed, edited, special effected, and acted, it was a childhood favorite and I still enjoy watching my DVD set. The dog smoking the pipe in the chair made my day.
  18. Doesn't look like until Episode #18, they finally give up their "who knows what" SMG's for 1928 Thompsons. I must have missed a few episodes in reruns and when I first bought my DVD set. There are two episodes from a three part series where a fat Jack Russell is sitting on a chair smoking a pipe. It is hilarious. You can tell Troy and Moffit were amused by it if you freeze frame it. A fat Jack Russell terrier. Fatter than the one the Reubenesque nekid Cuban girl and I woke up next to on the floor of her friend's bedroom floor that one time, but that's another story for another time. Noticing MP40's for the first time as well.
  19. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/932701161 No affiliation, just pointing it out.
  20. Starting reading SOF from its inception as a teen. Tried to keep every issue that had articles on my favorite guns. I miss those days.
  21. I love my Thompsons and my STEn, but if I had to carry one in the field, hands down, it would be the STEn....as long as someone else loaded my magazines ; )
