  1. Bought this at a auction of a local vet. It looks like an unmarked Russo case. It has obviously seen some hard use, if it could talk. This came in a box with some other stuff that I wanted for my M1. Any idea what its worth. It has a battle field affected repair on the flap with a steel probably foreign replacement pin. I had it looked at by a local guy that authenticated that and several other items but he would not give a price as he had only every seen one, the one he was holding. There is numbers under the flap that correspond to something, gun?,motorcycle?GI?. The bag is approximately 24” long. Just trying to get a ballpark value.
  2. What's th everdict on the stock? Does it shoot ok with it on, etc. DAW
  3. SAW this on bowers thought someone here might like to see it before it gets snagged. DAW This weapon started life as a Bridgeport Thompson M1A1. At some point in its history, it was arsenal reworked to M1 configuration, at which time the "A1" designation was hashed out. Go here to see a bunch of photos: http://www.subguns.com/pics/TH_01/index.html This is a fresh rewat, done perfectly. The upper and lower have been expertly parkerized as part of that process, see the pics. This weapon is in stock in Oregon on Form 3 and comes with one mag, the same or similar to the one in the photos. This is being offered to cover some capital outlay, thus I regret not being in the market for trade opportunities on this weapon. If you're interested, please pick up the phone. I get too much email to answer it all. Thank you for looking, Tom Contact Information Name: Tom Bowers Street Address: PO Box 430 City: Cornelius State/Province: Oregon Zip/Postal Code: 97113 Country: USA Telephone Number: (503) 992-8697 8am to 6pm PST

  6. Posted By: Dan Shea Date: 6/1/05 17:19 OK, now it is getting deeper. Another long time Class 3 collector has been contacted about his registered Thompson, that was US Property marked and came from the Reno PD. CID told him they were coming by to pick it up, and would leave him a receipt. He told them to talk to his lawyer, called the NRA, got a lawyer and put the wall up, things are OK right now... But, this is going to get a lot deeper. I suggest that we get the email tree going on this asap.... I have briefed my lawyers and the National Firearms Act Trade & Collectors Association on this problem, and we need to start getting this pointed to Congress, as well as making all gun owners aware of this.... think they won't go after everything that is US Prop marked if they get away with stealing just one legitimately owned gun? Email me if you get contacted, I will forward your info to NFATCA Dan put this up on Bowers. The reason I mention it is how many of us own us property marked weapons. Another way that the government can/wants to limit the amount of gun owners of mgs. Just a thought. DAW

  16. Check out the top 1928 parts set this guy offers and the cut reciever. www.uniquecanes.com/new/Main_Partsets.html DAW
  17. Someone correct me if I am wrong,( and rest assuredly someone will), but I believe that only imported parts kits are subject to torch cut restrictions. If the reciever was cut into pieces in the usa, from a usa gun( in states already legally), then it may be saw cut with the centersection removed. I don't remember the exact amount but I think the center section must be at least 3". FWIW DAW
  18. Last week I went to the range with some bud and we put about 1.5 k rounds downrange. The action started to stick on the bolt of my sten mkII . Finally the bolt stuck with a live round. in the chamber (bolt did not go home all the way.) I had a hell of a time getting the bolt back. I attributed it to being extremely dirty. I disassembled the weapon, cleaned the weapon and put it away. I took the weapon out this week and the first round it jammed and the bolt would not come back. It appears that either the ejector "raised"up or bent sideways or the tube became slightly bent under ejector???? The bolt is striking the ejector with perhaps 1 cm left to close between it and the chamber. The strike area is high on the ejector within 1/2 to 1/3 cm away from top. It appears that I can file on the ejector and lower it a little but I am hesitant to do this. The gun has run fine for about 4k or so rounds without a hiccup other than mag issues. I would hate to screw up the ejector. The gun was not dropped and no reason I can think of for this problem. Two things to note most of the ammo has been steel cased and most of the rounds have been used in conjunction with a suppressor, if these two things make a difference. Also this problem started while the gun was running a mag out just fine. Could the gun have become over heated and warped in that area,( I think not but ...) Thanks for any imput. DAW
