  1. Yes it was a plain old 318 automatic. I have had to have some rust repaired. Replaced panels etc. But it is going smooth now. It is a way bigger drain than my gun hobby right now!
  2. I have two 1970's. An original 440-6. And a hemi clone convertible I am building right now. It should look like the car in my profile pic hopefully in a year
  3. You bet, if your ever in Oklahoma come by and we will go put 1000 rounds thru it.
  4. Lol, you said if you bought the gun you would not look for the correct parts. Im thinking you would.
  5. Thank you Dave. Im not worried about it selling. It will. I was told that it was all Colt. And by inspection by board members it has a couple parts replaced. But I think it mostly is Colt.. Like I said, it is what it is. Not a museum piece. But a great piece of history that you can go shoot and not worry about it. I suppose a buyer could put in WW2 parts and shoot it. But its not like a guy goes and shoots thousands of rounds thru one. That would be silly. But to just go play here and there it would be great. This is the 5th Thompson I have owned. The 3rd Colt. And one of them has been in the family for lots of years. I will never sell that one. Serial number book says it was owned by New York Post or Times, I dont remember which. It would be neat to get a little background from BATFE to possibly find some history. maybe someone on this board has previously owned it and could chime in. IDK
  6. Hey guys. This is my gun that I have up for sale. I plan to relist it for a lower price shortly on strum. As you all well know, this gun has worn finish and some parts that may have been changed thru the years. One thing about this gun is that in the serial number book it says that when inspected in 1964 it has worn finish then. Some of you guys like to pick them to death which is ok by me. But it is still a awesome piece of history that has made owners grin since the 20's. Also in the serial number book it says it appears to have a earlier barrel. I don't know. But what I do know is that it most likely never was refinished and covered up problems. It is what it is. I plant to list for $32,000 without colt drum. And 33,500 with. Plus insured shipping. I will post more pics I took tonight. Feel free to ask questions. It will make someone a great gun. And especially great if you can't afford a museum piece. William
  7. Someone quoted the 1921 drum listed as $700-$1000. I'm thinking they priced it as ww2 drum. This drum has to be worth more right?
  8. I have a M3A1 9mm kit. It is all unfired. If you want I can weigh it for you. But I do not have a m3 9mm bolt. Bill
  9. Im not going to get into a drawn out debate with you about guns, finishes, omissions, disclosures, brevity or ethics. I bought the 21 knowing that it was not all colt. I found and paid for the correct parts that was described in their ad that was incorrect. I had the gun put back to its 21 form. And you stated: "And if you're not sure about the grips, then is it even "all Colt"?" I had or have no clue or even thought that the grips might not be Colt. The stock has the correct stamp. Why would I think otherwise. I am not a thompson expert nor do I portray as one. It sounds like you want to put me on a list that makes me out to be shyster, or a deciever. If I had for sale a gun that was original, unaltered, pristine example I would have stated it that way. All "Colt" I do know that all the major parts are "Colt". As far as that goes I guess im not really sure. There could be screws, springs, buffers, and wood that may be wrong. I guess it must be a piece of junk. Who offered $10k ??? When people called inquiring about the gun I told them what had been done. So that "should" awnser your question. Mabye! Thanks Bill Ward
  10. Hey guys I was going to be quiet but hey here goes. It is my 21. I bought it from Ike Zeros, and it did have some of the replacement parts as described. After quite a bit of looking, posting and asking questions I did purchase a original 21 barrell, and bolt. And I paid dearly for them. I had a well known and respected thompson smith replace the barrell. I was referred by some of the same posters that are posting in this thread. You can do the math. Im not making a dime. In fact.... you know The 21 in question is the nicest 21 I could afford at the time. And along with your help made it to what it is today. All colt parts. and of course the wood I don't know. But the wood is what was on it when I got it. Stock does have the anchor stamp. This 21 is a neat gun. I Have had some interest in it. But like some of you have said it is a bad time to sell. I dropped the price a little, got some more calls. Im not going any lower, but just as well I hate to part with it. As I may never owna nother 21 again. My son is 7 and it very well might make a great investment for him later. If you want to know anything about this 21 let me know. I'd be happy to awnser any questions. But it wont be sold for any cheaper, espically 10-15k haha Thanks Bill Ward
  11. For those of you interested. Here is a link to the White Lightning being restored. There are pics and stories behind the restoration. Aircraft is just about ready for first flight since accident. Should be sometime in January. I am fortunate to have a friend working on it and am going to see it take off. http://www.ezellaviation.com/ Bill
