  1. Just broke my possibly repro firing pin. I few sellers market these. Just wondering if anyone has run one that lasted, thanks. Yes, I need a firing pin and maybe a spare.
  2. I posted this on Sturmgewehr. I since found out about the rifling the .410 barrel. Now deciding what I can do one the 28 gauge. I am thinking the widow could check on the status of the guns with the barrels gone and if they do not show up as registered, no harm. If they do show up as registered, then the process starts to get them transferred. Thoughts?
  3. The police model with a “selector” basically when in semi auto just blocks the trigger from being pulled back far enough for full auto. The sear is identical in both models. So when the selector on the police model is in full auto, it’s just like the military model and still has both functions.
  4. My M3 eats any ammo. The grease gun doesn't have a feed ramp so it even fires SWC but I still run 230 grain lead mostly for cost reasons and I can't imagine wearing out a barrel shooting lead. I have never broken a thing on a grease gun. There is a special tool for the grease to remove the extractor for cleaning. I do this once a year as it can get fouled up.
  5. I won Knob Creek with my M3 in Oct. of 2003 when it was in the classic catagory. Categories have changed since then. Back then, to win knob creek, one needed to single tap his way to the top. We have listened to competitors and match personnel and have developed courses that require full auto bursts to knock down heavy steel poppers and bonuses given for sweeping an array. Also top shooters know to often start low and sweep up in bursts to knock down closely placed plates. In short, if you single tap a Knob creek course these days, you wont be anywhere near the top. Humping 8-10 45 acp mags. does tend to slow a guy down initially but when it comes to heavy steel poppers, we make up for it by dropping them easier than 9mm.
  6. I have seen some of his runs, he is a young force to be recon with. He lays down some accurate controlled fire. I am an older guy and going to borrow some of his technique when I shoot my M3 next time.
  7. That bolt is probably to be found at the Knob creek machine gun shoot. M3A1 bolts are really slow movers with so few on the transferable market.
  8. Scott Andrey sell repro barrels. I bought from dealer wearhouse a drilled MP40 barrel assembly. I used all the parts such as the sight and resting bar to attach to the repro barrel. That’s what I fire on my matching C&R MP40. The original barrel is oiled and put away.
  9. Thanks, I may just try to make my own if I cant find one. I see 3-56 or 6-48 beads.
  10. Where in a Indiana are you? I am on the Indiana side of Louisville. While waiting for your grease gun and if you can’t shoot your gun while at the dealer, you are welcome to fire my M3 guide lamp with your ammo.
  11. I believe almost all transferable MKIII are original C&R guns. I don’t ever recall seeing a “tube” MKIII.
  12. Still hoping to stumble on a de-watt UD42. These were advertised for 49.99 in the md-sixties. Maybe that is where the few lowers and other parts come from. De-watted UD42s that were never registered during the amnesty.
  13. Yep, I will be back using my M6 (either military or police) for the spring Knob creek match. I was using my grease gun as it was rare to see a grease gun being used there but now that is firmly covered by another individual who shoots extremely well ( and he is on here). If you reload and cast bullets for your M6, don’t use Lee’s 230 tumble lube RN. Only in the M6 will it sometimes fire out of battery. So I have to use a 2 cavity Lyman 452374. As far as the main spring goes, they will take a set after a bit and shorten, don’t know how much though. Anyway good insurance to just use a new one.
  14. Nope, no hold open. Most likely you single pulled that last round. But make sure the magazine follower is not stopping the bolt. So you have your M6 now?
  15. Numrich has repro 20 rounders for $50-60. They have most of the lettering except H&R.
  16. Went and checked my 10 mags. and no ayf 43 mags. High percentage of kur 42 and 43 mags.
  17. My M3 has the same markings as got uzi's. It was also painted black or what was left of it. It also has the guard welded over the mag. release. It's my gun so a pair of pliers snapped the guard right off with most of the lettering present. I then installed the mag. release guard made for the grease gun. Then I had it re-parked.
  18. When I first got my grease gun, I was impressed how it kept going and going. I was shooting cast lead bullet reloads. Lots of smoke and residue. I decided to see how long I could shoot it without cleaning it. I didn't keep track of how many rounds but finally the bolt guide rods were so dirty and fouled up the bolt was coming forward too slow to fire the primer. That was probably 3 range sessions with myself allowing others to shoot the gun as well.
  19. I have shortened the recoil spring on a FBP spring assembly and when the gun gets a bit dirty, it sometimes runs away. The sear cut on the bolt is different than a MP40 bolt. My FXO MP40 is original.
  20. I sure do like the lesser weight of the MP40 and either lighter ammo or carry more ammo. I still run 45 in subgun matches and I am slower with 8 mags. of 45 compared to 8 mags. of 9mm.
