  1. Thanks very much for your honest input, you time is greatly appreciated. It is a smooth actuator, with the bright bolt and all parts there. Very clean shape.
  2. I am trying to find out the current value of a 1928 bolt, actuator, and blish lock with fireing pin. Thanks in advance, I have been away from the foards for a few years.
  3. Very interesting looking over these pages and prices. I have been out of the loop for a few years, so I need to brush up for the future. Glad to see you guys are still keeping the Tommy world abreast.
  4. I don't want to throw a wrinch in this topic, but I remember about 2 years ago the few I saw sell were about $600 for the original colt long rod. Like he said Gordon gets $110 for a repo I would for sure be willing to pay another 40 big ones for the original.
  5. Maybe its like a mis-stamped coin and now it will bring 30K *LOL* or the guy setting the stamps that day was dyslexic, or maybe he just had "Dame Bramige" :banghead:
  6. Yes it was can you believe it? here is a picture of it in chrome. http://i41.tinypic.com/2100lzl.jpg
  7. Thanks much for the feedback guys I am very happy with the results that PK was able to achieve. As far as the restoration and how deep the markings are, they were not touched up at all. I believe he told me that the process used was reverse electrolysis rather than stripping and buffing. This aloud the markings to remain crisp and deep.
  8. Hyper Sniper, Thanks for the interesting photo. That's the first vertical foregrip I've seen that has an "S" marking. I agree with your assessment of Lancer's vertical grip; it appears to be a an original Remington/Colt era foregrip. That makes sense to me since many of the Maguire Industries late/post war law enforcement guns seem to have this style grip, which I believe were left over Colt wood grips. By the time the guns were being produced at the A.O.C. plant in Bridgeport they had already gone to the horizontal foregrips. I have never seen a A.O.C. marked vertical grip, so it only make since that the grips you see on the early guns were either savage, or Remington/Colt surplus. If you look at the grip on the Savage 28 that I posted about bling bling you can see a distinct difference from the Colt erea grips. The top 1/2" straight boss is not noted on the Savage Grip. I just have to believe that even though we haven't seen these S marked vertical foregrips much! hard to believe they only made one. They must have ended up overseas, or maybe only started to produce them and halted on the contract change to horizontal grips. (Who the hail knows)
  9. Most of you will recall back about 2 1/2 years ago one of our board members was selling a very early /Savage 28 that looked like a Commercial that had been chromed. Well I have always had a soft spot for these very early Savage guns, Maybe because they possesed alot of the features and looks of the Colt. Any how I purchased this gun in the hopes I could get on the long waiting list of a PK transformation, well 2 1/2 years later it arrived home this month. Anyone who knows me would realize that I am not a proponent of refinishing original guns, but in this case what choice did I have. I could leave the gun chromed (Yuk) or do the best thing possible and try and revive a beautiful masterpiece from the day. I must tell you it is hard to sell a chromed Thompson Wow! I need to take some better pics of the gun, but here is an idea of what the master, Yota of the TSMG's has acomplished. Please feel free to let me know your feelings on what has occured, but for what I have in the gun I feel it was worth doing and waiting for all this time, plus bringing back to life a true piece of history. The gun posseses most of the early Savage Commercial items, but could never be substanciated because with a FOIA done on this weapon, it ends with 1968 Amnesty registered papers. If only this think could talk!!! The gun was done with the dulite blue receiver and the high luster barrel, and the best thing is it has matching numbers with only the GEG inspection stampings. unfortunatly the original barrel was changed do to whomever had it chromed, had to have the smooth barrel in order to be able to polish it. Bottom line is I believe that PK has outdone himself in reviving this beautiful piece of history, once again into a masterpiece of a weapon. 10. OK guys here is the pics of the S marked vertical foregrip. I believe I should open a new topic on this gun at hand it has some interesting things about it. Yes this gun was a members former Chrome 28 and I have been waiting 2 1/2 years from buying it to getting it back from PK this month "WHAT A DIFFERENCE" Lancer, your foregrip on your gun looks to me to be a remington built vertical grip! http://i41.tinypic.com/2num44j.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/op3ady.jpg
  11. Hello gijive, The gun I looked at that had the Remington wood was most probably surplus from Colt guns because it was unmarked just like Colt guns and looked the very same. My gun only being 17k higher in serial range has the S marked vertical foregrip and also looks the same. I will try and get some pics this evening when I get home, but do not have any at this time to post.
  12. I have been away for awhile and am just now catching up. I have seen a very early Savage 28 commercial in the 18k serial range that had a remington Vertical foregrip. I have a early Savage 28 in the 35k serial range and it has the vertical foregrip that is clearly Savage marked.
  13. Well heck you are in great shape if your wallet is only bruised after that purchase lol!
  14. The not so funny part about what Phil has pointed out is the guy says twice that it is a low load that didn't make it out of the barrel. So he will take care of the problem by over loading better next time, I do not believe it was a low pressure load! more like no powder.
