  1. Thanks for the good words guys. I wish it actaully switched to full auto, but it is just about where I want this semi-auto to be. Zamm, where I work we have two NDYAG lasers. I have played around with them some over time. They will definitely mark the metal with what you want, including 3D marking. From what I understand about these lasers they will not cut your finger off, but they "tatoo" you bones if you are not careful. Scott
  2. Here are some links to photos of this project. Selector switch and engraving : http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c164/m1t.../Picture005.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c164/m1t.../Picture004.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c164/m1t.../Picture006.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c164/m1t.../Picture002.jpg Scott
  3. Thanks for all the help guys. I was able to install the dummy selector with out having to modify the pawl or spring location. I used the dimensions provided by reconbob with a minor location change due to the new pivot plate. In had to grind out clearance slots in the sear and the disconnector, but not the pawl. I did turn down the selector shaft and this helped with clearance. I did not want the bolt hold open option, just the ability to move the switch from full-auto to single like it's full-auto brothers. I have not had the chance to see how it functions on the range, but everything seems to function as before, but with a new outside appearance. Where I work we have two laser engravers, so I used one of them to mark the full-auto / single markings on the receiver. I do think I engraved the full-auto a little low, but other than that I am pleased with the results. I will try to take some pictures in a couple of days, if anybody is interested. Again, thanks for the help. Scott
  4. Thanks deerslayer. I do not have a copy of Tracy Hill's book. Is it on a web site anywhere? Of course, you may have to email it to me. Many thanks for that. Just curious, when I radius the three parts, it will not affect the function of the rifle? I guess I need to get the parts, disassemble the rifle and see what you are talking about. Scott
  5. Thanks deerslayer. I was wondering, if I turned the shaft of the selector switch down would I still need to remove material from the three peices you mentioned? reconbob, is there a website I can look at the drawing you mentioned? Thanks, Scott
  6. Thanks reconbob. I will use this as a template for the job. Scott
  7. My other post was accidently sent into cyberspace, so I am re-asking the question. I want to install a dummy selector switch on my M1sbr, but I need to know exactly where I need to install it. This will be for looks only, not a bolt hold open. I also need to know if there are any modifications to the internal parts so the switch will not come in contact with them. Thanks. A big thanks to adlake for the parts I needed. Scott
  8. I live in NC. I checked the NRA web site on NC laws and did not see anything pertaining to transporting in a hard case, but I will still do that. Like I said, I will not be taking any live ammo for it, so that will not be a problem. Thanks. Scott
  9. Thanks for the info fellas. I was able to borrow a hard case from a coworker for the weekend, yes, I had to work today http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/mad.gif . I will see if I have any copies of my tax stamp left to take with me. Scott
  10. I haven't posted in a while, but I still very much enjoy this forum. I have a couple of questions about transporting NFA firearms in-state. I am looking at going down to the middle part of the state at the beginning of next month for a living history weekend. I will not be bringing any ammo for it, it will be for display only. 1. Do I have to have my original tax stamp with me, or can I have a photocopy of it? 2. Does it have to be transported in a locked hardcase? I do not have one at this time, so I was wondering about some alternatives. Thanks. Scott
  11. I could have not said any of this better that you guys. I am thankful to all of our Vets, especially those that served in WWII. I look at my grandfather and two of his brothers that served. My grandfather was in his 30s when he was drafted and still went. One of my uncles passed away several years ago, and I never did get to talk to him about his service. My other uncle talked about working on B-24s in the Pacific. With my grandfather and uncle's health declining I do not know how much longer they will be with us. My wife lost her grandfather last year. I did get to talk a little to him about his service in the 79th ID fighting in the ETO. My great interest in this subject has led me to get into WWII living history/reenacting. So many people now do not know, or simply do not care, how much sacrifice these veterans and their families gave durring that time. Plus, how close this world came to be dominated by totalitarian rule. THANKS VETERANS!!!!!! Scott
  12. Thanks guys! It was easier to make than I expected, and is very sturdy on the grip mount. I thought about the extra mags taped together, but the thing is heavy enough. Of course, I can use the workout. The grip does have a S on the backside, and evidence of a barrel band at the front, so that may throw some people off. I kinda hope it will make some stitch nazis scratch their heads. Oh yea, who you callin a yankee!?http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/mad.gif Them's fahtin words down here in NC!! http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif I kinda like Southern ingenuity http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/cool.gif . Thanks, again. Scott
  13. I finally made my own field modified verticle foregrip for my Kahr M1. I asked for, and got, a rough shape pistol grip and acracked grip from Sarco. The both cost me $20, but they soaked me on the shipping adding another $10. Oh well, after repairing the foregrip and sanding the pistol grip I assembled it to my liking. I did not use any good wood, just very rough and damaged wood. Tell me what you all think. http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c164/m1t...rent=gear10.jpg http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c164/m1t...rrent=gear9.jpg Attached to my Kahr SBR. http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c164/m1t...nt=a6f68126.jpg http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c164/m1t...nt=38ce209f.jpg http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c164/m1t...nt=2adbea9b.jpg One picture before the addition. http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c164/m1t...personal010.jpg Scott
  14. Z3, Yes, I wouldn't mind seeing what you have. Thanks. Scott
