Putting white paint in markings?
October1971 replied to p51's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
I've been using this whiteout method on some of my items for around 40 years. In addition to the white grease pencil, before using it, I dip the pencil tip in a small metal measuring cup that has a few drops of lighter fluid which helps soften the grease pencil, then I wipe off the excess with a soft flannel cloth. -

With Davids permission Original FBI hard case with brass cleaning rod and four 20-rd patent date magazines. I purchased this case in the 1980s from a retired FBI agent in south Florida. It has a nice interior and the external condition is quite decent. Its only draw backs are surface rust on the metal furniture, latches, hinges etc. and It needs a new handle. The current handle is attached to the case with small electrical zip ties. This is that last of 7-8 hard cases I purchased over 10-15 years when building my Thompson collection. For a case that's close to 100 years old, it makes a very decent enhancement to any Colt tommy gun display. Price is $3200 OBO plus shipping and insurance. Not set up for credit cards or other payment plans. Personal checks are fine. Send PM for any questions. References provided. Thanks for looking.

With David's permission With David's permission I have an 18-rd Thompson Shot Mag for sale. I think I have posted photos that accurately describe it. Obviously it has a few issues that can probably be improved by the new owner. Some small areas of surface rust. Overall it makes a pretty good specimen of a fairly scarce Thompson accessory. Priced at $1200 OBO Includes insured priority shipping. I'm not set up for pay pal or credit cards. Your personal check or money order is fine. Or I accept guntab.com ( a safe Pro gun payment system ) Thanks for looking.

With David's permission I am selling a newly discovered square hinge ( outlier...?) spare parts can with internal parts. This is one of the two or three scarce can variations as recently featured in Tom Davis book: A Thompson Compendium See pages 150 to 157 for his excellent chapter on the newly discovered spk with square hinges. This spk was in a hard case I purchased from a retired FBI agent in south Florida in the 1980's. The extractor and firing pin do not appear to be modified former military versions. They don't appear to be ground down "S" parts. I will sell the group for $4250 including insured priority shipping. I am not set up for ccards or Pay Pal however your check or postal money order is fine. I also accept Guntab.com which is a very safe and PRO-GUN payment system. Thanks for looking. Thanks for looking

Thanks for those who responded on the spare parts kit by Gordon. It is sold pending funds.

With David's permission, I'm selling the spare parts kit I purchased from Gordon some 25+ years ago. It is number 38 and has the box, labels, etc. as originally included when I purchased it. Never been out of the box nor on display. Price is $375 and includes insured, priority mailing. Not set up for ccards or Paypal. Can do Guntab.com ( a really great progun payment program ) or your personal check or Postal Money Order is fine.

With Davids permission, Auction Sunday, 3-12-2023, on line only "GunauctionsUSA" Lot# 73147 An original FBI hard case, that needs some cosmetic work but will clean up into a relatively decent case. Includes an early high quality replica 1921A tsmg. As I have done in the past, I wanted to let the forum know that this item was coming up for auction. I will try to post some photos, but there are also some on the pre-bidding auction site right now. Pre-bidding started Friday 3-4-2023 The interior of the hard case is the original fabric. The leather corners are in tact. The metal latches have a layer of surface rust that have been oiled, but need more intensive treatment. The handle is not in vg shape and has been strengthened with small black zip ties, but is the original handle. I hope someone gives it a good home. I have owned it for 43 years...

Thompson replica in Viola case at auction
October1971 replied to October1971's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
We had this case and early replica tsmg on display in our police and military museum for the last 20 years in Dunedin, FL I purchased the case from a realtor about 25 years ago. He had purchased a well used Viola case and gutted it and paid to have it modified to accept the tsmg. It had some repairs over the years including glue on some trim and some touch up black paint on the exterior part where some of the outer material had been torn off. But the overall appearance makes a pleasing display. At an earlier auction I sold an Indiana hard case mfg by Greg Fox in 2003 which we also had on display in the museum. And before that, I had sold a nice quality Indiana replica case, by a maker named Kasekraft. The Viola case in this auction has a panel that covers a butt stock and a place for an L-drum when unwrapped and opened. Due to a progressing health issue, I have been auctioning some of my collection. However whenever I place a thompson-related item on the auction block, I always try to let this forum know about the auction. The museum did not reopen after going through the pandemic. I will be sending Dave some funds for allowing me to post these listings from time to time. You are welcome to contact me if you have questions about this item. Thanks for looking October1971. Thompson replica in Viola case at auction
October1971 replied to October1971's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
Super cool...? What's interesting is that we hear people talk about Tommy guns in violin cases. However in the 20s the colt guns had verticle forward pistol grips and not horizontal forearms. And they wouldn't fit in a violin case. Do you ever fly and check your "Dillinger suitcase" in the airport...
