  1. I've never seem one like that before. Give it a go.
  2. My Photo bucket is back up on acount of me paying the small monthly fee, I had the nieces and nephews shooting it last year.
  3. Cool. It looked like the trooper at the 2.15 mark had an "E" Model.
  4. For and E model BM59... Theoretically, if just a receiver is converted for the build you could use a Standard Garand barrel, stock ( modded for magazine clearance) and handguards. E model gas cyl is the same too. The E model buttstock and rear handguard are shorter and not interchangeable with std Garand. In short, if you get the kit get the barrel. They are mostly USGI barrels shortened at the breech. Good luck. They are tons of fun. JR
  5. Bronze wool and penetrant wont hurt the finish. Just the rust. Lube and rub. again and again. It might be saved. JR
  6. Re metal finish I'll offer this. Considering the surface rust you have, blast and park may be the best way to remove that. The polishing required ( to get below that rust) for a re-blue will play hell with the receiver markings. Deerslayer did great work for me but I have not heard of the Cali mod yet. Good luck. JR
  7. The 1928 trigger frame has to me milled to fit on the semi1927A1 receiver and some semi trigger parts fitted for the new clearance. FA parts wont work with the 1927A1 receiver as it is a closed bolt gun. I'm sure there is more finesse to it. Search the forum to see better descriptions of what goes on. JR
  8. I got the 28 lower from Don at Omega Weapons Systems in late 2015 just before he stopped selling them. They were $125.00 at the time. Now they are priced in crazytown as the supply has gotten exhausted and demand remains. Philadelphia ord versions may be the only path to glory. Good luck on that hunt. JR
  9. Good call. Lets see what under there. I have that coming up. I may use it and the 27a1 trigger frame to build a dummy.
  10. Dan Block (Deerslayer) modified 1927A1 Commando I’m finally getting around to writing this up. I got this great work done by Deerslayer last year. I came upon a used Commando 1927A1 on the cheap last year and I figured I saved so much I could put some more into it to make it look like something. Because a Commando is parked a re-blue was out of the question so I was going to go for the look of a post war rebuild. Here's what Dan did. 1. EZ Pull Spring install and bolt polish 2. Inlet top of butt for Brit sling swivel ( Not pictured) 3. Set comp back 2 inches on Kahr Barrel 4. Custom, Dan Block 1.5 inches longer horizontal forend ( Unfinished) 5. Convert 1928 lower for 1927A1 semi w Bolt hold open 6. Convert Mag catch for TSMG mags 7. Rivet replacement “L” rear sight 8. Quick change barrel mod. 9. Remove ¾ mount and install new ½ grip mount With the the gun, I sent Dan a 1928 trigger frame and the necessary 1928 parts to make it work in semi only with the 1927A1 receiver. To me the most unappealing aspect of the semi guns is the 18” proboscis of a barrel and comp. Getting the comp sleeved over the barrel and using the 1.5 “ longer horizontal forend is the only way to tame that horrible look, short of an SBR, which I can’t have in my state. I ditched the awful black wood for GI parts. I darkened them a little with Vandehaves dye ( the one with a little purple in it). I wanted to decrease the contrast with the the phosphate of the receiver and barrel. The gun runs great. EZ pull springs and buffer are the way to go. The selectors are a little tight but I think this came out great. Thanks Dan. JR . 11. The receiver on the OP's rifle was made by Beretta. That's what the PB on the side rail means. PB: Pietro Beretta, the world's oldest gun maker. The receiver was forged, rather than cast. Yes the receiver was made by Beretta ( and is not welded) but not assembled into a rifle by them. Reese /Springfield Inc imported the parts, including finished new receivers and assembled many of them into finished rifles. Hence the Springfield Inc ser # as well as the Beretta marking. There were Beretta made guns ( imported before 1984) that have higher desirability due to the fact that they are Beretta factory assembled and serialized as opposed to the Reese /Springfield Inc built guns. ( which are still great guns). JR
  12. It is, of course a BM59 by Springfield Armory Inc of IL ( not the govt arsenal in Massachusetts) . This co was/is owned by the Reese family. They imported many "new old stock" Italian parts in the 80's and assembled very nice rifles out of them. Hence they had to add their name as a manufacturer to the existing Beretta name on the parts. Only more desirable, are the actual Italian made BM59 ( or BM62) from Beretta before 1984. I have not been following the market on these. Be aware that the market might be slow on these as there has been a huge volume of Italian army surplus BM59 parts onto the market in the past year and many people are building these rifles from parts. This might be eroding demand for Springfield built guns. Good luck. JR
  13. They are all kinds of surplus. http://www.e-sarcoinc.com/bm59-world.aspx JE
  14. Tony Giacobbe " The Garand Guy" may know. He sells BM59 E models. http://garandguy.com/ I don't know if he does the receiver mods though. Schuffs did one for me. http://shuffsparkerizing.com/bm59-program/ SIDE BAR.... I'm not sure how I feel about mag fed Garands flooding the market. I liked that it was a commitment to get or build one. JR
