QUOTE (Norm @ Aug 1 2007, 01:40 AM) QUOTE (rhlowe @ Jul 31 2007, 11:13 PM) QUOTE (Norm @ Jul 26 2007, 02:23 PM) QUOTE (full auto 45 @ Jul 26 2007, 11:18 AM) yep, forgot, 13" barrel. No buttstock mounts. I think its actually 13.5 inches. I wonder if Kahr will use a 11.5 barrel with a unremovable comp. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/dry.gif Norm Actually it could be removable all they would need would be an 11.5 inch barrel. If it is the comp is removable on a 11.5 inch barrel, then they could not put a foregrip on the gun. It's a pistol. I don't think the comp would have to be permanent just so long as the overall length is 26 and it wasn't detachable. pinned on would probably be fine but I'd send a letter to ATF first.

Calibre: You misread my post. I have removed the markings from the frame not the receiver. I hope you weren't offended that I sought references here. I don't have the receiver disassembled yet, but will get-r-done soon and then send it off. I'll call you. 45fan: Yep me to. Blaine: Send that thing off to Craig. Your letter from ATF is clear. Don't argue with an idiott, Richard -

Here's A Letter You Don't Want!
rhlowe replied to Zamm's topic in Thompson Submachine Gun Message Board
Zamm: That isn't a letter. It's a search warrant. I've written a few when I worked narcotics and that is absolutely the most poorly drafted warrant of any kind I've ever seen. I occasionally assist other agencies with warrants and I always look at them personally prior to executing a warrant. I would probably be very leery if an ATF agent asked me to run that thing with him, but if signed by a judge it is a legal document though the language is very questionable. What you experienced was some very bad police work. They had a search warrant so why did they run the under cover in. They probably didn't do any surveillance on you prior to the incident otherwise they would have taken you down as you came out the door on your way to work. This wasn't unusual in the time frame that you describe they were like a bunch of kids trying to play police and people got hurt. I'm betting that they only had 2 or 3 agents on the raid team that came through the door, kind of dangerous when your suspect has machine guns. The good news is, from what I have seen lately, they are more professional and better trained. They work with us when filing felon in possession charges. That is something they use to never do. So we filed what we could at the state level. From what I see on the streets the ATF is pursuing criminals now and they appear to be exercising more good judgment when dealing with us honest citizens. I'm sure some of the ATF guys are real nice people it's a shame that they have the job of enforcing many unconstutional laws. Richard -
Marvel mystery oil (buy it at the auto parts store) and a brass brush will clean it up better than anything else. Don't use steel wool on a bead blast finish. Steel wool works OK on polished or brushed blue but, will remove the blue if you get agressive with it bronze wool is better. What ever you use don't do it dry use lots of oil. Richard

I have a 28 actuator that is marked with a Y on the but end. Not on the left side as usual. The Y is stamped sideways. This actuator is knurled. Does anyone know what type of actuator this is? Who made it? Thanks, Richard

Philadelphia Ordnance will make an 80% semi receiver email them. you may have to give them the specifications to alter a full auto receiver. Here is an email I sent them: Do you or can you make an 80% 1927a1 receiver Like a West Hurley semi auto? Can I specify that the slots for the frame not be cut and or the rear sight not be spotted? I am sure we can do this if I know exactly what you want. Bob Bower Philadelphia Ordnance Hope this helps, Richard

Yes what he said, but put rosin (available from brownells) on the cloth side of the emery cloth. Richard

Phil: I just found it interesting that you made the statement "That's Illegal" and then were unable to provide a cite of the Law. By the letter of the law you are right. I stated that I had a telephone conversation with the ATF firearms technology branch some years ago and advised what there response was, ATF ruling. Possibly you missed that portion of my post. There sure are a bunch of guys that provide engraving services. I don't think this would be going on if it were illegal. You should know that your Automag is not a firearm according to title 26 USC, but since you bring it up you say "I had them engraved much, much deeper, exactly on top of what remained, and in precisely the same size and configuration as what was worn off...whether or not it was "required" by anybody else; I required it". It would have been impossible for your engraver to engrave these markings in exactly the same location if he was really good they may have moved as little as .001 but I would suspect that they moved much more than that no matter how bad you wanted them in the same location. It doesn't matter because a pistol is not a firearm according to title 26 USC. Title 26 USC is what we are concerned with here it governs machineguns If you were the legal expert that you would have liked for me to believed that you were when you originally posted your negative comments you would know this. It appears that you are giving legal advice to someone who evidently understands the law much better than you do. Lets just take the emotion portion out of what I said. I apologize for that comment your legal knowledge is based on hearsay. Have you read any portion of title 26 USC other than what I have posted here for you? You also made comments about Italian single actions with colt markings again not a title 26 firearm, but by simply putting a reproduction first generation SAA barrel in most Italian single action's it will very closely approximate an original colt though the serial number wont work I have seen this done often and there are several engravers that will remark your Italian barrel still not title 26. Now title 26 weapons I have an UZI done by Broadhead Armory during the ban rush it has no markings only a serial number It has been inspected by ATF as it was purchased from Stemple. The ATF while investigating Stemple examined the gun and not a word was said. They evidently wanted stemple and if they could have made a case based on this I believe they would have. I am basing my knowledge of this situation on hearsay (telephone conversation with ATF) but I'm comfortable with having the gun remarked. You believe that remarking this gun is Illegal, Immoral and unconstitutional and I do not. There is no point in us discussing this further. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/banghead.gif Thanks, Richard -
