Rest in peace Lee.
My favorite Lee story was when we did the very First All Thompson display at NRA in Philadelphia. Lee was a smoker so he had to go outside to smoke. While there he would sit near the protesters. You know the ones who are anti NRA.
He struck up conversations with many of them. Found out they were a church group Hired to walk around with banners etc. For this the church got paid and the members got a free lunch.
Lee got a number of them to sign up as new NRA members . Including one life membership. That was Lee. He could talk to anyone.
We will miss you.

May I suggest you stop looking at a book that was written in 1982 and trying to establish
a base line on when anything was made. When Roger wrote that good it was based on his
experiences at that time. Time marches on and a lot better research has been done since then.
Please look at the Thompson Encyclopedia Vol 7 for a good look at canvas items.
Thanks

I agree with Tom, I think that by 1942 Russell MFG was using the R. M. Co and date
codes as were required by the US ordnance department. The RUSCO marked 1942
appears to be added later. Why someone would bother doing this is a mystery.
