  4. I’m looking at two 1928 Auto Ordinance Thompsons The first is a reactivation, the receiver was saw cut on the right side of the receiver behind the ejection port. It was only cut on one side, not completely though. Gun was repaired, refinished and is in excellent condition. It has all inspector and ordinance markings. The second gun is an uncut gun that was refinished in a deep Colt blue. It has a Colt front grip and buttstock with the upside-down anchor, the gun was made to mimic a Colt Thompson. All inspector and ordinance markings were removed. The gun is also in excellent condition. Which gun you would consider as an occasional shooter and why? Thanks AC556 http://i13.tinypic.com/2nm0sr8.jpg http://i13.tinypic.com/33xhkx2.jpg
  5. What finish should a Colt gripmount have? Can someone post a picture? Thanks
  6. QUOTE (Arthur Fliegenheimer @ Jun 20 2006, 10:36 PM)Are there serial numbers on the far right latch? Is there a "nickel" latch? The indentation looks a little rough inside. Does that stock have matching buttplate and stock numbers? Is there an anchor? Does a Colt latch have a serial Number?
  7. QUOTE (Arthur Fliegenheimer @ Jun 19 2006, 11:00 PM)AC556, Whoa! Should be blue. "Nickel" or in the white(?) trip, sear lever, sear, rocker disconnecter. After some counsel with one of our learned colleges, It does have a blue/black finish. Thanks Arthur
  8. QUOTE (Arthur Fliegenheimer @ Jun 19 2006, 09:50 PM)AC556, It looks as if the stock hardware (latch and slide) is of WWII vintage. Gijive and TD covered the internals. What is the finish on the top of the trigger? Arthur, I think it's nickel.
  9. QUOTE (TD. @ Jun 19 2006, 08:55 PM)Arthur - Great Posts. AC556 - Is the rocker the same color as the rest of the internals (sear, trip, sear lever, etc)? It looks blue in the picture. TD, It is blue.
  10. QUOTE (Arthur Fliegenheimer @ Jun 19 2006, 07:19 PM)AC556, "Nickel" buttstock latch: http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b56/Polythemus/nickellatch.jpg http://i5.tinypic.com/14xnx1d.jpg Arthur, This is a lower off a 21AC in the 9K range. Looks like the latch has been changed? Do you see anything that is wrong? Thanks for your info.
  11. QUOTE (Arthur Fliegenheimer @ Jun 17 2006, 05:13 PM)The Colt Navy stock might have an offset Enfield sling swivel as would the horizontal fore grip. It would not have the WWII type stamped or machined swivel. The Remington/Colt vertical foregrip is unmistakable when held. Like S&W "Coke" grips on a pre 29 .44 Magnum. The vertical on ebay has an arch cutting upward into the straight and flat portion of the grip that aligns the grip mount. The finish on the wood of Colt 1921, as is the bluing on the buttplate and metal hardware, and of course the "nickel" latch is different from WWII. This needs to be seen in person for true clarity, as pics are troublesome. But as to the thumb release area around the buttstock latch, here are some pics. The first is a Colt 1921 type and the 2nd is a WWII era type: http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b56/Polythemus/GenuineColtNavyLatch.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b56/Polythemus/Copyoffakenavyrelease.jpg Arthur, I’m confused; can you post a picture of the “nickel†latch on a 21 buttstock slide? I think your talking about the latch in the metal slide that locks into the lower, is that correct? Thanks
  12. Ken, Can you post any pictures? I would like to see what it look like.
  13. I know there are some transferable Colt Thompson guns that are in poor or very poor condition. These guns would not be as collectable as guns rated higher. Do you consider refinishing the wood and metal? Do you leave it as is and consider it part of the history of the gun? What effect will refinishing have on the value of a gun in poor original condition?
  14. I did a search on subguns.com and sturmgwehr.com for Colt Thompson. No 1921A listed. 5 1921AC listed 12455 listed at $30,100 80% 1236 listed at $36,500 ? 4234 listed at $30,000 ? 2053 listed at $38,000 80% 9969 listed at 40,000 ? 3 1928 N listed ? listed at $29,995 90% ? listed at $34,995 95% ? listed at $49,995 80% All guns were listed with Acc. Some more than others.
  15. Considering the condition of the guns are equal, say 90% How would you rate the value or collectable from 1 to 3 and why on the following guns? Colt 1921A Colt 1921AC Colt 1928 Navy
