  1. Your "friend" should grow a pair and also learn to STFU if he doesn't know what he's talking about. :angry: If its registered, I honestly hope the widow intends to sue him for his misinformation.
  2. I would think its automatic reclassification if its in the registry. They have the list to ammend and having to manually process forms to reclassify every WH gun out there would be ridiculously time consuming and inconvenient on both ends. I never though I'd live to see the day that my WH became a C&R gun......wooo hoooo!!!! As for aquiring a C&R license: : How does one get a collector’s license? Submit ATF F 5310.16 (Form 7CR), Application for License (Collector of Curios or Relics), with the appropriate fee in accordance with the instructions on the form. These forms may be obtained from the Firearms and Explosives Licensing Center in Atlanta, Georgia, your local ATF office, or downloaded from ATF’s Internet site (www.atf.gov). [27 CFR 478.41©] ATF link: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/curios-rel...l#license-apply ;
  3. I have used and currently use Wolf ammo in my WH Thompson regularly. I would estimate that my gun has seen at least 10-12k of it with no problems. I have broken one extractor since I've owner the gun but that was early on before I started using Wolf and have not broken one since. Wolf ammo functions flawlessly in my gun and is actually very accurate out of it. It IS reloadable by the way, I've reloaded lots of it in the past with great results. If you want an inexpensive practice ammo, try a couple of boxes of it and see how it runs in your gun. If it works, the savings you recognize will more than pay for enough extractors to last you a lifetime.
  4. I have a couple of questions about the canvas drawstring pouch pictured in the above post. Does the book reference a part number for it? What are they worth new in the wrapper? Thanks for any replies, Tom Disregard, found the same bag I have but a newer edition(Viet Nam vintage vs Korean War vintage) on ebay for $4 plus shipping.
  5. QUOTE (AFSOC @ May 23 2005, 07:48 PM) Whatacountry has the best price I found on 30s and IMA has the deal on the 20s I just got my order from them today and promptly ordered another set! My Seymore mags from Whatacountry are in equally good condition IMA also has 30s available at a premium cost, my WAC mags were in excellent condition bathed in Cosmoline for about 10 dollars each.... I've also bought WAC's XXX mags and they were in good-excellent condition and all worked flawlessly. Thinking of ordering more.
  6. I couldn't be bothered. People like him eventually kill themselves from lack of attention, to which I'll gladly contribute.
  7. Parts on hand is always advisable. I have changed out many on my AO WH gun to include actuator, bolt, buffer, spring and guide rod, oiler, Blish lock and extractor. My gun has seen a lot of use mind you, and things do break. I bought the guide rod and buffer from PK here on the board and it is a real nice peice of machining work, far better than the original. I recommend having a couple of springs in case you kink one during reassembly. A couple of extractors and at least one actuator.
  8. Go here and read. http://www.surplusrifle.com/shooting2005/h...ffl03/index.asp There should only be one tax involved, owner to owner. Your dealer should know this and should have told you.
  9. If the gun is a C&R and you have a C&R license you should be able to buy the gun and transfer it directly from the original owner, no dealers involved. This is the purpose for a C&R license.
  10. If they sold it minus the belt its a great deal for original marked mags.
  11. I drive a 10 and 16 year old vehicles. No car payments, not into impressing the chicks, my insurance and excise taxes are low, and I bought 11 machineguns instead. My vehicles still get me where I need to go reliably, they cost a minimum to keep repaired and my guns have doubled in price in the past two years, and one has tripled. My vehicles are worth basically nothing, although they are good transportation and I'd drive either across the country if I had to. Meanwhile the guns keep appreciating. http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  12. Machinegun ownership is perfectly legal in Massachusetts. You must be a "boni fide collector" Whatever the hell that is? or an instructor with the Criminal Justice Trainig Counsel....like theres a lot of those right? A type 03 Curios&Relics FFL bonifies one in the eyes of the state. The biggest obstruction to machinegun ownership in Massachusetts is the local cheif of police who is the issuing authority of the license for the Commonwealth. Many cheifs will not issue machinegun licenses (GREEN CARDS) as they are known in these parts. There are some cheifs who will issue..mine being one of them in Middleboro, but most will not. Hows that for "Equal Treatment Under the Law? It's outright denial of ones rights. I'm waiting on a renewal right now....been in process since mid May. how slow the wheels of bureaucracy turn. Funny thing is, my handgun permit which requires the exact same background check from the exact same resource was back in about 50 days. Something tells me that someone is severely dropping the ball in this process and being a major ball buster. I will only renew one more time then I am leaving the state never to return of my own free will.
  13. For my Thompson, I have used 5gr Bullseye/230FMJ Montana Gold Bullets and Winchester bullets. I have also used HPC-1 and HPC-18 from Bartlett reloading www.gibrass.com These are pulled down powders from US and TZZ ammunition and they work very well. 5gr HPC-1/ 230FMJ WLP primers, assorted once fired brass 5.1gr HPC-18/230FMJ WLP primers, assorted once fired brass. These will give you good MG ammo and I also use them in my Rock Island Armory .45 pistol.
  14. I also have used Wolf ammo in my 1928 WH gun with no ill effects. It seemed to run very well on it when brass cased stuff was a bit troublesome. So far I've run 2k through my gun with no problems. It is a bit hotter than other .45 stuff out there but it works and its accurate too. If the laquered case is of concern, spray the chamber with a little wd40 before shooting. As was noted in a previous post, US military stuff was steel cased also and it worked fine. The newer stuff is better as its non corrosive and fresher.
  15. Got the drums, Thanks Bob http://www.machinegunbooks.com/forums/invboard1_1_2/upload/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
