  1. TD, I'm not at the point of posting them for sale here or anyplace else. I first need to understand how to go about selling them. What the law requires, what avenues might be best, etc. Thanks.
  2. I have a couple of West Hurleys that I want to sell. I've had them for 20 years and I'm a little rusty on the procedures and legalities of selling NFA items. I'm sure this has been covered here before; could someone point me to a primer on this? Thanks.
  3. That's good to know. It does seem like it's had a fresh coat of finish relatively recently. Shall I use oven cleaner to strip it? What kind of oil did they use on the WWII Savages? BOL or Tung? Thanks again!
  4. Note there are some faint circular mill marks on the inside. Hope this helps. Thanks.
  5. I have a very similar looking grip that I bought several years ago. I was told it was an "original Savage," but I didn't really take that claim too seriously. Having said that, it looks exactly like yours. How can I confirm whether mine is legit? Thanks.
  6. I just scanned H.R. 1808, the "Assault Weapons Ban" bill moving through the House. I realize it has little chance of passing the Senate this year, but it is concerning. If I'm understanding correctly, it doesn't add further restrictions to NFA guns, but it does ban the sale and possession of new "large capacity ammunition feeding devices," defined as mags over ten rounds. I don't see any carveout for Thompson and other NFA gun mags. It's my impression that we'd be allowed to buy and sell Thompsons as usual, but could not buy or sell any mags. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks.
  7. Don't know if this is the right spot to post this or not, but here goes: As you know, there are various "High Capacity Mag Ban" proposals from Democratic presidential candidates and others. Would these carve out NFA mags, such as 20, 30, 50 & 100 round Thompson mags, or would they be treated the same as AR-15 mags? Some of the tougher proposals go beyond just banning new production, but require them to be surrendered, which would leave us with some inoperable Thompsons.
  8. https://www.robertrtg.com/store/pc/Thompson-1928A1-c313.htm These guys advertise NOS GI parts at reasonable prices. Are they they the real deal? Thanks.
  9. I'd suggest the silicon-treated gun socks from places like Midway. Get the tactical model: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/872367/midwayusa-silicone-treated-tactical-rifle-gun-sock
  10. Did they use a Westy? It looks like the vertical grip may have been slab-style.
  11. I don't pretend to be any kind of expert on web gear, but why would the U.S. contract for "sterile" equipment and then accept something that had "United Carr Boston Mass" stamped on it?
  12. Congratulations on a great purchase! You'll treasure that Tommy forever. I'm curious. I understand that your service rifles must be permanently converted to semi-auto, but it doesn't appear that your Thompson has been tampered with. Are you able to own fully-operational full autos?
