  1. Blew one last year after 5k rounds once in my possession. Had a huge pit in my gut until I looked at the guy shooting it. Same look everyone has; ear to ear grin. I cant count the number of people that had never fired a mg prior to shooting mine. More than worth whatever value the blown muzzle brake costs. I bought it to shoot and have fun. It has been just that for all that shoot it.
  2. Grasshopper, With the Bayou Bullets the OAL is 1.270 inches. Not sure if all 185 gr SWC are profiled the same, so you may have to adjust a bit. Jim
  3. I use Bayou Bullets 185 gr lead SWC with 4.5 gr of Clays. They are coated and produce very low smoke and very little leading in the comp. Not the cheapest lead cast bullets, but they run in every .45 ACP I own including 1911, the Reising, and a S&W Shield. The 185 gr weight saves a little. As I said above, I used the loads in my pistols, and tried them in my Reising M50 when I received it on a lark. I couldnt believe how well they ran. Ive fired thousands without a hitch. Jim
  4. Believe it or not, my M50 runs flawlessly with my 185 gr SWC reloads at around 550 rpm. GI ball runs at over 800. Same mags and everything. I had not intended to shoot SWCs but since that was my 1911 practice ammo, I figured Id give them a try. Its great having only one reloading setup. Jim
  5. Broke a segment out my M50 compensator today. I have a spare barrel, but was thinking about a suppresser. Suggestions? Besides the obvious "just shoot it". Thanks. Jim
  6. Thanks Ron. Do you happen to know which models fit the Reising mags? Thanks. Jim
  7. How does everyone load their 30 round mags? The 12 and 20 rounders I always just loaded with my fingers unassisted, but the new 30's are a bit of a pain in the fingers. I know some guys use devices to assist in loading handgun mags, but never thought I would use one until I received the new mags. Any suggestions? Thanks. Jim
  8. Thanks guys. I have a M55 receiver with a 0 stamped over the second 5 that is in M50 configuration. The sn is in the 54k range. Looks factory as it is aligned perfectly and does not look like a hand stamp. The M55 in question was a 500k sn. Not an "S" either. I looked it over very carefully, in fact almost bought it except the sn seemed too high. When I spoke to the owner about shipping to a C&R, he mentioned that there might be another name besides H&R on the Form 4. When I thought about it, I felt it might have been re-numbered and registered. Jim
  9. Does anyone know what the latest sn an M55 could have? Looked at one that was in the 500k range. SN was sharp but the rest of the markings on the receiver were weaker. Jim
  10. As shocking as it sounds, mine runs flawlessly on Bayou Bullets 185 gr SWC. Cyclic rate is a bit slower though. USGI ball speeds things up quite a bit! Both loads are great fun. The 185's are quite a bit cheaper of course. Jim
  11. I'd like to buy a couple myself if anyone want to part with one or two. Thanks. Jim
  12. How difficult is it to remove and replace a barrel? I have a spare barrel, but would hate to mess up the original. Jim
  13. Mine runs like a top using Bayou Bullets 185 gr. LSWC in front of 4.5 gr. of Clays. I'm lucky I can run the same load in my 1911's and M50. Low smoke, soft shooting, and goes bang every time. Like Gandolf1, I watch the powder level like a hawk prior to the bullet. Jim
  14. I was very surprised as well. I had a bunch of 185 gr. SWC's loaded up for my 1911A1 and figured, "what the heck, I'll try them". At the time, I only had one 20 round mag. I purchased four 12 round mags a while ago, and just got around to trying them out. I've since fired 300 rounds or so of the SWC's without one FTF our of the 20 round magazine. I have not yet picked up any 230 gr. ball yet. Jim
  15. My 20 round mag feeds my 185 gr. SWC reloads flawlessly, while they will not feed reliably through four different 12 round mags. Any body else experience anything like this? I would have thought the 12 rounders would feed better. I have not run any ball ammo in the 12 round mags. Jim
