  1. Form 4 is still only for dealers to use. Dealer to individual or trust. Private sellers still have to do paper
  2. It’s doing your homework and knowing that there are indeed “reproductions” You can “easily” tell it’s a reproduction? Well how many know where, what or how to tell the difference without a book and calipers? It doesn’t bother me, but the poor newbies who will buy a FAKE being passed off as a real one? Not everyone has morals when it comes to selling stuff like this. I’m not “Gordon bashing” but pointing out that he did a HUGE disservice to the Thompson community with these and in my opinion did the entire community a disservice by NOT marking the kits when they were first made. A piece of paper or a box can disappear, but if it was stamped or marked then there would have been no question.
  3. I know of one that paid for the repairs to a damaged SMG and ate all the ammo plus replaced it….so yes it does happen.
  4. It’s the brass that is the issue so it doesn’t matter if you are relaxing or not-a bad casing is a bad casing and it’ll screw you up pretty quick. The only thing about shooting factory is if you gun goes “boom” they are on the hook. If your gun goes “boom” using reloads, you are SOL
  5. This has nothing to do with a Thompson, but rather the transfer of an NFA item. I get what you are trying to do but it’s not where it belongs.
  6. While this is good information-I’m failing to see why it’s in the Thomson section and not the Class III discussion. Come on guys quick cluttering up the Thompson section with stuff that isn’t Thompson related
  7. There’s a reason a book on “reproduction part-accessories” has never been printed….it would literally be a blueprint on how to make the best fakes out there. As these items go up in value, the desire to scam people becomes more and more likely….really takes the fun out of things.
  8. I call it a fake as all it takes is someone who isn’t knowledgeable on them, OR someone who is out for a quick buck to pass it off as an original (see the “Marine Service Kit thread” Given this one had the box and the tag, it made it easier to know what it was, but give it one or two owners and that can/could change. I stand by my opinion on this as it’s only going to get harder in the future to tell some of this stuff apart. The more “authentic reproduction” parts that are made and not marked, will lead to more scammers pass off fakes as legit items in the future.
  9. Some call that an “authentic reproduction” where as I call that a flat out FAKE. Had Gordon cared, he’d have marked his kits with a mark or something to clearly show it wasn’t an original but instead he made them so close you need calipers and a loop to tell the difference.
  10. Not a real "Marine Service Kit" but more like something someone put together. The original ones, were standard Colt spare parts kits, but with a few extra parts added...I know this as I had one, and it is pictured in TD's book, tho I sold it to the person who is listed in the book. Another educated idiot fishing for a sucker on that one.
  11. Hence why I’m asking if anyone has a kit that was broken up as I don’t need the whole thing, just the FCG. I’m wanting the sear, spring(s) and trigger for the M45BE
  12. The one thing with shooting a heavy diet of lead out of any SMG is to run some FMJ in with it. Load 5-7 rounds of FMJ in the mag first, then fill it up with lead. The FMJ will swab the barrel of the lead and keep it from plugging up.
