  1. Looking for an original M12 trench barrel, 1941, 42 or 43 dated. If you know of one for sale - please let me know. Thanks!
  2. IS there a CA law prohibiting shipping of such parts kits to CA? Any feedback would be appreciated.
  3. I have a question for the members: Are the complete(barrel including) Thompson M1 parts kits(with a torch cut receiver, with only 2 receiver sections present) legal in CA? Is it legal to sell a kit like that to a CA resident? What about a magazine that comes with the kit? Thank you!
  4. There are no special attachments on this case that would make it fasten to a motorcycle. There is a shoulder strap, however, so one could probably wear it slung on one's back while riding a motorcycle.... The leather, the fasteners and the stitching are of very good quality.
  5. Here is another interesting leather carry case. There was some sort of crest or an emblem attached at one time - you can still see the outline in one of the photos. No markings. As I understand, similar cases were made out of canvas. I would estimate the age of the leather to be 1920s or 1930s, based on the type and wear. Enjoy!
  6. Hello, everyone: I was finally able to take some close-up images of my Thompson FBI case, that was mentioned in another thread briefly. I listed it on Gunbroker about a month ago. Here is the link to the closed auction, with multiple pictures: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=530560112 Although I am not a Thompson collector, I have been collecting various military firerams of WWI and WWII( US, European and Japanese) and their accessories for almost 20 years and had to distinquish, on many an occasion, between and original item and a fake/reproduction. It seems, that while it is fairly easy for the fakers to age metal, it is extremely difficult to age various fabrics and leather and I am yet to find a fake leather item that I would mistake for an original - a good example would be Luger holsters made in the 60s and 70s in Pakistan and by now had acquired some wear, but the type of leather and the smell always give them away. I assure you that both the external and the internal fabrics on the case in question are old and have a random wear pattern that would be almost impossible to duplicate. If I had to guess, I would say 30's or 40's vintage, 50's being the latest. All the metal parts have an even patina, consistent with natural ageing. There is a logo or a maker mark on the lock, but I am not able to read it as it is covered with rust and I do not want to clean it. I don't have enough experience to comment on the plastic handle, but is appears to be similar in appearance and age to the handles you would see on the luggage from the early 50's(?) era - very sturdy. I would also imagine that the leather handles could have been easily replaced when torn and a newer plastic handle could have been installed in the fifties. However, the hardware, holding the handle to the case appears to be undisturbed and has the same amount of patina as the other metal parts. The serial number on the cleaning rod retainer is struck with older style dies. I purchased this case from a fellow, who had been managing an estate of a well-known dealer from the south(Alabama, possibly), who used to set up at the Tulsa gun show in 1990s - 2000s and since have passed. He also had a "prison guard" case, that I did not buy... Hopefully, the new pictures can shed some light on this case. Thank you!
