  1. Anyone have an idea if paper form 4 to dealers is getting faster? I have two coming to me, though they have only been in process for just under two weeks.
  2. Thank you very much for taking the time to post this. I have several Lewis pans (a couple sourced from Ivan, above!) and this will be a very handy resource to have in the back pocket!
  3. If I remember correctly, the individual rounds of ammunition spin freely when loaded into my magazines (ie, I can run my hand over the top layer of rounds and they will rotate as my hand moves over them). If yours are too tight, the problem is not likely the prongs, but the outer rim of the pan magazine itself. When these are unloaded, they have a tendency to bend in slightly if mishandled or tossed around in the field. If you have old surplus mags, the rims may have bent in slightly from moving around over the years. Where did you get the mags?
  4. Thanks, Richard. Actually, the stock is a repro that the previous owner made himself. He did a really good job, but not original. I actually checked out your website to see if you have any originals in stock, but it does not look like you do. Thanks for the comment! Chris
  5. Timkel, Both were purchased from a museum in the 90s and were with the previous owner ever since. Other than that, I don't have any history. Jim C, Thank you! Chris
  6. Hey all, Just thought I'd share the most recent member of the family: My new transferable Bren MK 1 (modified) made in 1942 at RSAF, Enfield. Thanks for looking!
  7. Thanks for the responses. I have sent several emails and called multiple times, yet I can never get an examiner on the phone... I just keep getting answering machines... I leave messages but no one calls me back. They have made it impossible to get answers. The firearm is not on the seller's Efile list, and we can't seem to get it added there either. He bought the firearm back in the 90's before he had an FFL. He since got an FFL/SOT as a sole proprietor and has been able to successfully transfer his other "personally owned" firearms on form 3's as his FFL is tied to him personally and not attached to a corporation or other such entity such as an LLC. My only guess is the examiner wants a form 4 as this was purchased before he had his FFL/SOT? Of course, I don't know for sure as they won't tell me anything. Our next attempt is going to be on a form 4. To that end, he only fills out the first page of the form 4 and sends them in, in duplicate, correct? We don't need to send in fingerprints and a CLEO copy as I am a dealer/SOT? Thanks, guys. Chris
  8. Hey all! I need some advice: I bought a machine gun from a seller on Sturm back in June. The sellers is an SOT Sole Proprietor. He transferred the firearm to me (I am also an FFL/SOT) via a paper form 3 and it was approved within 30 days... No problem. A month or so later, he had told me he had another MG for sale, which I agreed to buy, so, like the first one, we filed a paper form 3... Problem is, it was denied. The ATF did not mention any reason for the denial, they just sent back a denied form. So, we re-submitted, this time using his "premises" address, where he does not receive mail. Again, it was denied. So we submitted the form again, this time with a 5320 showing his SOT mailing address (as it was originally transferred to him back in the 90's when he was in a different location)... Again, it was denied. The problem is, they keep listing the denial reason as "other", with not other explanation and I can't get an examiner on the phone... All I get are people in the help center who can't tell us why the form is getting denied. I always end up getting transferred to the answering machines of examiners who never return my calls. So what do I do? Sue the ATF? Call my local representatives? Has anyone had this happen to them? If so, were you able to get it resolved and how? Thanks!
  9. I sell lots and lots of things over the internet. I am of the opinion that the customer is entitled to have their product delivered in the condition promised. If it is delivered damaged, or not delivered at all, I take responsibility and try and recover my losses with the carrier. After all, they paid ME to ship it. This gives us incentive to package our inventory well and do everything we can to get the package to the customer safely. With that being said, if a package is lost, I need to be given time to track it down or try and recover it before I'll send a replacement or reimburse the customer (at least 30 days or so). Most online vendors have their shipping and replacement/reimbursement policies on their website. If not listed, then I'd ask before ordering. I personally would also not do business with a company that says "you're on your own if USPS loses it". ESPECIALLY if the item is expensive... too risky when someone I don't know is packaging and shipping my item, and that person has 0 incentive or obligation to do anything other than hand it off to a USPS driver. Nope. Just my opinion... Though I have never lost a customer from lack of standing behind my promise to deliver.
  10. Thanks for the information - that was exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for!
  11. You're absolutely right, but why not both?!? haha. As long as the HK11 is hanging in the gun room, it may as well have a sear in it
  12. Hey All, I am not at all new to machine guns, but I am new to HK sears. I came across an MM11 (Michael's Machines version of HK11) and was thinking it would be fun to make FA. It is my understanding that I need to find an "unmarried" registered sear? I don't really have any interest in any other HK, roller-locking type firearm (other than perhaps a 21E at some point), so is there a certain route I should go? Again, sorry for the ignorance... Every single one of my machine guns are all WWII or earlier, so I am not too familiar with "sear" guns. Thanks for any advice!
  13. Ohhhh man you had to go there?!?! I have to pick just one? Probably my NESA BAR. Either that or my MP40... They're both a ton of fun to shoot!
  14. Beautiful guns! I enjoyed your videos of these on YouTube. I currently own a Lewis and its a blast on the range (no pun intended). I have a transferable Bren MKI* in transfer to me at the moment, complete with spare barrel/parts, a pile of mags and a tripod with the AA extension arms. I am counting down the days. I will post a family photo when I have it!
  15. Just got a paper file form 1 back. Submitted 8/26, approved 10/5, received today.
  16. Thanks for the idea! My MG34 adapter is from BRP - I'll contact him and see if he can do one for the Lewis as well.
  17. Hey all, I just picked up a Lewis. I have seen people using the Lewis on 1919 and M53/MG42 AA tripods with adapters. Does anyone know anyone making these? I have a Yugo M53 tripod with adapter for my MG34, and I'd love to find an adapter for the Lewis. Thanks!
  18. I own a 1919A6, BAR, Lewis, Japanese Type 11 and Type 96... The best value in terms of ammo cost, parts availability, ease of maintenance and general fun on the range is definitely the 1919A6 and BAR ... They go to the range with me almost every time.
  19. Hey StrangeRanger, long time no see! Thanks for the heads up - I'll go troll the Sturm forum for more info. Thanks again!
  20. Hey all, I was in the eforms today completing a form 3 for the transfer of an MG that I sold. While completing the form, I was in my efile inventory list to select the line item I was transferring and I noticed another line item highlighted in red. It is a pre-86 sample that I have had for about a year. I have one other pre-86 sample not highlighted in red. And of course, all my transferables were not highlighted in red. I selected the item just to see if it could be transferred and it made me select from a selection of choices such as "LE Demo", or "Going out of business" etc... It is clear to me that the system thinks its a post-86 dealer sample, not pre-86. I am an 03, not an 07 SOT and I did not submit a demo letter when the item came to me. It transferred to me with no issue at all. Has anyone seen this before?
  21. I filed an efile form 1 on January 31st and still waiting... It has been just over 30 days.
  22. I get that, but the regulation does no say "FFL number", it says "license number". A driver's license number is a license number... The regulation does not define "license number" as specifically meaning "FFL number". That was the source of my confusion.
  23. Roscoe, That was the reason for my question. I was unsure if "license number" specifically meant "FFL number" as the term is not defined in the regulation. Thanks for the clarification.
  24. Hey all quick question: When logging in a firearm from an individual in your A&D book, is it okay to use their driver's license number or do you have to use their address? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
