  1. First off, welcome to the forum. I think the answer to your question lies in your personal preference on the barrel length and whether you are actually going to SBR it or not. If you are definitely going to SBR then getting the drum seems smart. If you aren't, and prefer the look of the shorter barrel, then go that way.
  2. Mine is a Kahr Auto Ordnance, also - Kahr bought the company - but was made in late 2017 and is an M1SB version (An M1A1 SBR). Mine had a bad sear and while it was in the shop they polished the feed ramp and milled the frame a bit to make it easier to break the rifle down.
  3. Welcome to the forum! As is noted above, there are some common issues with these rifles. Once tweaked, though, they will run well. You might consider sending your rifle off to someone who works on them regularly unless you have the experince/ability to fix the issues yourself.
  4. But they already do make a .223 Thompson. It's just a Gen 2, not a Gen 1.
  5. Welcome to the forum! I'm an M1SB owner who, fortunately, lives only an hour from the Tommygun Warehouse. My Thompson had an out-of-the-box sear issue that required a drive back to the shop where their armorer replaced the sear and then did some other tweaks - runs like a champ. I was also the winner of a raffle where I got one of the new Auto Ordnance/Thompson AR pistols - the Generation 2 of Thompsons.
  6. I found that the extended bolt handle gave me just enough leverage - and I'm in my 60s. I do have a spring kit from Dan but haven't had to use it yet.
  7. Have you contacted the Tommy Gun Warehouse? That's where they sell the AO/Thompson M1SBs - that's where I got mine.
  8. Welcome to the forum!! Lots of great info and people here!! I feel as if I know you from somewhere.
  9. Lots of great info from the experts here so I will just offer my contratulations on the new rifle and say welcome!!
  10. Swapped out the sear - I was getting random 2 and 3 round bursts, polished the feed ramp, machined the upper a bit to make it easier to break it down. I think there were a few other things he did - runs like a charm now.
  11. I wondered if they had moved all of the AO production to Greely or not. The armorer at the Tommy Gun Warehouse - the Greely facility - tweaked my M1SB. He did a great job on it. The facility is about 45 minutes away from me and they will be doing all Thompson/AO, Kahr and Desert Eagle manufacturing there in the near future.
