Hey Gents saw the new section made figure I contribute. Here's my US model 1904 Maxim Gun. This one was made at Colt and us the eighth Gun off the line. Thanks Gage
-
Your not wrong. You are right about the type 89 being a Sideways type 11. However there are a couple different versions. The one that sold was a TE4 Version which basically is the same as the Standard Type 89 That takes a Pie Shape magazine, but shoots 7.7 instead of 6.5 Plus the TE4 has a Bren Style of drum magazine.

I have no doubt that some of those parts from your gun were most likely put on in the Field by the Japanese, but I do agree with most above that most of the parts were put on by HR to make a functional 99 LMG. Given the many mixed serial numbers. The Japanese Were known to do this but what they do is they would take anything and everything off one gun for cannabilization, then fit it on to the one they were trying to make a running gun out of. Espically when being cut off on the Islands by US Army, Marine, and Naval Personal. I have a 96 that is a mixed gun, but was able to track the history on it and confirm it being a Guadalcanal bringback and be a gun that had three different guns used to make it Run!

I saw that 42 the other day after I went down to pick up my Vickers Gun I won from them. Whoever won it did excellent as I have no doubt that's original Applied paint. IMO probably one of the best examples (not in condition,) but with Authentic Character!

The 89 is not a Prototype it is indeed a full scale production gun. However the gun was adopted in 1929 and the Type 89. Model TE4. The reason these don't come about is because these guns were bought by the Navy, and they were issued on Navy Bombers. The production rate was low on the 89 TE4s but they were phased out on the late early 40s due to the Type 89 Dual Flexiable machine guns and the later Dual 100s, and even If they did survive till mid to late war they would had have to survive getting shoot down over the Pacific ocean. Really cool Piece though.

Mine has to be my Japanese Type 11 LMG that us documented and brought home from Hacksaw Ridge/Sawtooth Ridge!

Post war or war time MG42 trigger group? Help please.
GEJ replied to GEJ's topic in MG34 - 42 Message Board
Hi Darvis! Thank you for that input. That is indeed what I figured. This is a easy fix as you helped me determine I have the original one in my other stuff. Long story short this gun came from a friend's estate and he bought it back in the 60s from a friend who bought it from the vet. When he would shoot it every once in a blue moon, he would switch out the originals for post war spares of course. But he passed away suddenly a few years ago. He had a post war bakelite stock which he kept on it as he liked the looks of it, and when I was going and helping through his estate I found the original stock. Until tonight I never noticed the triggerguard and always thought it was the original, but when I stripped it I saw that Rheinmetall marking, and kinda figured the other one in the can of parts I bought from him, was the original as that one Is correctly German WW2 marked. I wanted to make sure of course that I wasnt missing something where Rheinmetall didn't follow protocol on smaller parts and was breaking off a original part! Thank you Darvis. -
Hi Gents! Reaching out hoping someone Maybe able to shed some light on this MG42 Triggerguard!? This came with my bring back 42. It's a 42 Triggergroup with Rheinmetall symbol on top left corner with its other unique symbol followed. What I'm trying to find out if this is war time made or not? My Guns a Maget gun which I know was a subsidiary of Rheinmetall, however it lacks German waffenampts everywhere, and I think is strange as the German codes were used very well and almost always, and this one just has Rheinmetalls regular logo. Does anyone else have a Maget gun or any other gun with this that came back with there gun? And help would be appreciated Gents! Thanks Gage

Looking for MG34 Top Cover 7907 No Suffix. DOT 45 Gun.
GEJ posted a topic in MG34 - 42 Message Board
Hi Gents putting this out there hopefully getting lucky. I bought a Pre 86 Dealer sample DOT 45 Gun. Gun is almost all matching. With the exception of the top cover. Ironically the top cover is off by 64 serial numbers. Top cover serial number is 7843. Trying to see if someone out there has mine? Maybe I got yours? Let me know if you do have mine would love to get it back! I know this was a shipment of Guns that came in together in the country during early 80s, and all were in the same serial range! Please let me know! Thanks Gage. -
Johnson I believe the ones out there were made after July of 1968. So yes 3-4 months before the amnesty.

There's 2-3 Transferable MG3s out there. One just recently sold at Auction.
-
IMO I'd say 42s are ranging from 50000-65000 right now then more given how early it is or if it's a Transferable MG3.

Looking for Swedish m36 Kulspruta parts
GEJ replied to BORE's topic in Maxim, Vickers, & Other Water-Cooled Machine Guns
Hi Bore Sadly I don't have those however I have a set of barrels. PM me if you are interested in the barrels! -
Hey Gents! Just putting this out there dont know who has it. However figured I throw it out there! Dolf Goldsmith had Serial number 53 Argentinian Maxim Gun years ago then sold it. As stated dont know who has it now, but Bob Landies posted a Parts kit gun (SN 132) but he posted it with SN 53 Tripod. This is just a FYI your tripod is out there.

I agree with all statements above. While I love my Japanese machine guns! Having a few 96s and a 99 plus a 11 they all are exceptional. However finding singular parts are not easy to find and the only real way to aquire parts is a parts kit. Also adapting stuff to a 96 is hard, not saying it can't be done, but a friend of mine Edwin Libby ( Now passed away) used to say adapting 96 barrels espically ones with knife swinging barrel detach arm, could be the biggest pain. As when the guns came out of the factory they were only supposed to accept the two matching live barrels and the scarce blank barrel. Not saying adapting 96 barrels haven't been done, but they are crucial in getting them just right and sometimes, might not even adapt! It's nice that the one in the auction one comes with a spare barrel with original cap, but they were not all interchangeable Like are MG barrels were of course. However mine in 6.5 are a dream to shoot, and cannot attest to one in 7.62x39, as I have always loved the original calibers!

I know there gonna be in that 25k-30k range depending on condition. I got a healthy chunk to put down on it for a hold if someone had one for sale! Thanks Gage
