  1. Speaking of, what has happened to the Captain? I have thought of him a few times in the last few years, afraid he might have passed. A Google search turns up lots of stuff but it is all fairly old, 2018 I think being the latest mention of him. No bio or obit was found. I know he used to live in my state (Alabama) and I think he may have moved to Georgia, not sure. He contributed a lot to the NFA world, just wondering if anyone knows?
  2. I think so too. The biggest thrill with my M76 is the almost total reliability it has shown. We all know MG's can be finicky, and as sure as I comment on how reliable one of mine is it will start to hiccup. Usually ammo or magazine related, but still.... My M76 has been flawless except for one instance that it proved a bit recalcitrant for a few minutes, but then returned to utter reliability.
  3. I love mine, and with Todd's 22 conversion kit it is fun in the " ought to be illegal " category. Changing between 22 and 9mm is simple and quick too.
  4. thanks, I've never encountered one before. How much time is saved stamping one less '4'? Germans! (My wife is half German ancestry, I know what I speak of)
  5. My favorite gun just became my S"&W 76 with Todd's .22 conversion kit installed. It is such a hoot! I guess whatever MG I am shooting at the moment is my favorite, but for now I'm gonna go back to the M76 every time. 2C8D9015-2842-4DBD-B06B-66B386C3AC1B.MP4
  6. Thanksgiving afternoon I took four of my grandsons ( I have six in all, plus two girls) and the hit of the day was my M76 with Todd's .22 conversion kit installed. Here is a video of the 10 yr old shooting into a pond. Needless to say he had a blast! 2C8D9015-2842-4DBD-B06B-66B386C3AC1B.MP4
  7. I was going through my MP40 mags today and noticed this one. ayf and a "4" where usually there is a "40" or "41" or whichever year it was made. I suppose the second digit just failed to get marked, but I was just wondering if anyone had ever seen anything like this?
  8. Thanksgiving after noon I took four of my grandsons plus their Dads out shooting, and they all got quality time on the M76 with the .22 conversion kit. Everyone loved it and it ran great, except one bout of FTF that I can't fully explain. I thought it was the mag but then determined it was the bolt lagging behind, and was going to remove it for cleaning when it started shooting flawlessly again. Just a glitch that I can't explain other than all MG;s experience some of these things once in a while. Even my trusty Swedish K had some FTF's,,most likely from bad ammo. They loved the 76 in .22 caliber, and firing into a pond produced the most laughter. Video of my 10 yr old grandson attached. He also shot his Dad's AK and AR but his preference was definitely my M76.
  9. Outstanding work, I bow to your machine skills and excellent workmanship. Just terrific!
  10. I finally got a reply about the rejection of my Form 4, turns out the bank in Portland, OR did the rejection. They were wrong in doing so, it is the correct form, and everything is correct on it, but I'm now having to re-submit as they won't accept it since it was declared incorrect. Not even a government toadie, but a bank employee that decided to exert some authority where it wasn't warranted. I know I can wait until Jan. 1 and e-file, but I'm hoping this one sails through quickly as some do since it' s an individual to a SOT transfer.
  11. Lucky you, enjoy and buy some more mags. I have extras pretty cheap if you need some.
  12. It does for me too, its the same one I sent off originally. That's what is so maddening about this whole thing, I used the latest form they have available, yet they rejected it. I received my order for new forms yesterday, only they sent me 100 copies instead of the 25 I ordered. It is the EXACT SAME FORM that I originally submitted in September. I have heard nothing since sending copies last Friday, so I sent in another email inquiry today, including copies again.
  13. I'm helping a customer transfer his MP5 back to me( I sold it to him in 2017) so I can then Form 3 it to a buyer for him. The form was returned to him last week with a cover letter telling him the form used was obsolete and to re-file using the newer Form 4. Well, I think there is a newer one than Oct. 2023 ( top right saying 10/31/26) but you can't pull it up on the ATF website. I finally got someone at NFA branch to show interest, and Eric has been emailing with me, told me he could find no record of it, last thing on that S/N gun was in 2017 when I transferred it to my customer. So, I've sent him copies of what they sent back, now awaiting his reply. I'm not surprised, but I am really put out over this foul-up. Hopefully it will be rectified and the transfer will be approved shortly. This is, of course, a paper filing since individuals cannot (yet) e-file a Form 4.
  14. Yeah, at first this looked like a deal, but take away the junk parts and it looks less enticing. Up to 985 now and buy it now is j$1700 so he's expecting that much.
