  1. OK I will check that out, but when the pin is modified that part that hits the hammer is removed to make it a inertia pin. Looks like there need to be a balance between the pin on the primer end protruding out too far and the other end not exposing itself enuf for the hammer to give it a good whak to set off the primer. I have a light strike about once every 400 rounds. I shoot her often since I can use my back yard (lucky me) but it keeps me constantly reloading LOL.
  2. "channel" Are you referring to the flat spot on the pin? If not I don't know what you mean channel
  3. I have a titanium pin that has been shortened and every once in a while I have a light primer strike. I think I got a little aggressive and removed too much metal thus making it lighter. I milled the pin down to 3,970. Over all I have no issue with the seldom light strikes. I keep the channel the pin rides in super clean to eliminate any movement from drag caused by powder residur.
  4. Ok sounds good and I will follow your opinion Thank You
  5. Looking for recommendations for a schedule to do a complete cleaning, such as after a specific round count Also for a general cleaning without removing the bolt and hammer etc. Cleaning the barrel and any crud that I can get out of the chamber area. Where I live I need not to go very far for a place to shoot, ie out my back door LOL. So I can come home from work and empty a mag and be good for the evening, I find that relaxing after a long day.
  6. Free State Gunnery 913 626 5185 Class III SOT Basehor Kansas If it can be done he can do it.
  7. Your neighbors never get disturbed much less know you are shooting from your porch. Where did you get the brass catcher ? I need one of those badly ! since I reload my brass
  8. Good advice I will check out the magwelld more closely ... When a round just goes straight in the feed ramp and fails to tilt up I just angle the mag upward and the round chambers or just slap the side of the gun. I tried another magwell and there was no change. The springs are Wolf springs BTW
  9. My trigger takes a lot of pull and I could benefit from the lighter triger and has anyone benefitted from reshaping the ramp in the breach and trigger work. The trigger work would give me better accuracy on the first shot or in semi mode, and with the breach issue I sometimes have the round not running up in the chamber. Rather it will just get stuck going straight in rather than angle upward towards the chamber and going in. My thinking is if I make more of a upward ramp for the round to follow. I would not do this myself I have a very good SOT gunsmith do this work.
  10. You might be able to get some items from gun broker where the seller will ship to you from their living room, And a forum member get the parts you need and re ship them to you. I assume you can not have a real Reising
  11. Is that starting bid price in line with the market for a original.
  12. All my luck LOL I wish I had not bought up 5 oem mags and 3 christys before you came up with this retro fix ! I would have saved a lot of money. (crying)
  13. I recently bought 3 mags with sleeves attached from a forum menber, and mine run reliable after fiddling with the feed lips especially getting the last round to chamber. They are a good retro fit mag to replace the over priced originals, good luck in obtaining yours.
  14. Ok I got it and It takes a good strong firing pin spring such as wolf spring ?? Right?
  15. When making the firing pin modification to make it a inertia pin, What over all length to I need to use. I read up on the mod but no length has been given, just keep the pin recessed in the bolt face when the pin base is even with the bolt base.. How much should the recess be?
  16. I did not know the SNs were listed in other places,, I don't know about the butt plate mine is covered with a butt pad, but I have not noticed anything on the stock. maybe I should look it over closely
  17. I went on amazon and found a black canvas sling for a SKS and it looks cool.
  18. I had to put blue Loctite on the two screws, they kept getting loose on me.
  19. Good idea to check on thanks. I have had a mag apart and noticed the legs could be bent to fit tighter or looser in the mag sleeve, I will look in to that. I just ordered a Mag well and Mag latch from Numrich they were not very expensive. As Ivan suggested to shim the mag ! I do have some shim stock to play with, that idea crossed my mind. I know this issue has to do with the mag position,,, on several occasions when I cycle the gun slowly or even chamber a round to shoot, a bullet will catch and all I do was move the mag back and forth or even hit the mag with the palm of my hand and the bullet will chamber.
  20. I just checked for looseness with the mag well and it is tight as a drum. The mag itself is loose in the mag, I have managed to acquire 5 mags and each one has the same amount of play from front to back. The space between the inner edge of the mag well and mag when inserted is about 1/16" room to wiggle in front to back. When the gun cycles it rocks the mag back n forth. I found that the bullet jam always occurs towards the end of the mag load. When I grip the mag as if it was a handle and put pressure forward all the rounds run. I remember someone on here complained that his mag would mess up on the last round or two,,, I'm wondering if he was experiencing he same as me.
  21. I have two mags that seem to mess up feeding during the last 4 rounds. I have changed springs and turned the springs around etc etc to no success. I noticed my mags are loose in the mag well and they will even rattle when empty. I would manually cycle all 20 of the rounds with out any hiccups except for a few times. When they did jam (manually) I would move the mage in the mag well and the round would move on in to the chamber. Now when run a particular mag that is prone to not feeding I just hold the mag in place with my hand and I put forward pressure towards the barrel and that will direct the incoming round pointed up towards the chamber. Now with this the two mags feed perfect, I even have one of my 3 christy mags doing the same thing and now it runs 100 % I have not seen anyone talk about this so it works for me and it may work for someone else, I hope it helps someone.
  22. SR thanks,, I know of only one person who may have a shot timer and I will ask them .
  23. Thanks for the reply's I now have unique that I'm using at 5.8 and get that 883-874 range. Since my post, I loaded up some 5.6 and speed dropped to 820's. I did notice the difference and plan to drop my charge some more. The control was improved compared to the faster (883-874) fps. I now know I'm on the right track for my ''sweet spot'' I do have the faster loads already made up but once they are gone they will not be used anymore, some can be used up in my 1911. But the reduced wear and tear is very important.
