  1. Let me guess, they want like 8000. I would love to get my hands on a BAR gun. Almost impossible now.
  2. Yes I only had the one large recoil spring down the middle. It was a very nice kit and feature to have, I kept that kit for months. Made loading drums so much easier. I bought the kit from a California weapons demil company for close to 1k, they had 2 of them but offered the 2nd one to me after the auction for the same price. 2nd one had the M1928 shorter barrel and was in better condition and I was pretty jealous. Sold the kit because the finish was not even close to matching the thompson I was using. It had a detachable stock as well. Horrendous trigger pull.
  3. Yeah I used to have one of those kits. It looks like a M1A1 bolt of course and fires from an open bolt. Super reliable and works well but a hell of a long trigger pull. It was cool, i shouldve kept it.
  4. I believe deerslayer can make the appropriate markings/stamps and even add a full/semi selector onto your lower which functions as a bolt hold open. Springs: https://howellarms.com/product/reduced-pull-spring-kit-for-semiautomatic-thompson/ Fantastic I buy them for every Thompson I get.
  5. I'll still take lowers, matching USGI furniture sets and rear sights. RTI kits are overpriced as all hell. Bowman does a great job getting affordable kits.
  6. Doing an inventory on the parts. Seem to be just missing stock screws which kinda sucks but oh well. I'm actually now thinking of swapping all the M1A1 Kahr Arms parts with these old WH parts. I can get more reliability out of it that way at least. But if I could get a reciever that'd be great.
  7. My 1927A5 is already lost value, so there's no more turning back sadly. Unless someone has an all original A5 lower reciever sitting around. I had a custom made finned barrel with a pinned and welded fake suppressor for it and when I used to have a detachable stock lower for it. Sold the lower and now have the pistol one back on it, but I still have the barrel on it now it looks kind of goofy. I do have a 10.5 finned blank barrel but i want to SBR this Thompson and my M1A1 as well as I do enjoy shooting them. And the A5 only fits in its case if i take off the suppressor barrel and swap it back to the blank barrel. How common is the 55B sight? Amd whats the differnece between the regular flip up and that one? I was thinking of doing a finned non comp barrel just to be a little cooler and use my cutts comp i have on my 13in barrel for the M1928A1 one. And I've been throwing it around but I will have my lower cut for a detachable stock. I did find a website that had a ton of stripped Tommy semi lowers but they are all M1A1 style fixed stocks. Then I'd have to buy a whole new trigger grouping or salavage the ones out of mine to make a detachable stock donor out of those. I've noticed some milled electors on the full autos and I was looking for any 1921 parts but I cant find any on Gunbroker or other sites.
  8. I saw the kit with the reciever. I asked, $800. But I also have like $5k in other projects I have to finish and $800 is more than I make a week sadly haha. For the A5 I want to get as close as possible, right now I have a faux suppressor finned barrel on it but I'll swap it to a faux suppressor smooth barrel until my tax stamp is approved, or use the 16 in that came with my kit. The A5 is a WH made. I want to do those exact modifications, the non holed mag catch, knob and safety swap along with a detachable stock. But was also wondering what other modifications would need to be done as well to make it more akin to the 1921.
  9. Recently recieved a 1927 WH Thompson parts kit, everything but a reciever. Which now I'm in search of a cheap stripped reciever. But now I'm thinking of turning my 1927A5 to a M1921 clone, while I can use this other one to make into a more Military production simplified model, with a smooth barrel but still retains the Cutts comp and a cheap folded L rear sight. I am looking for a small ball knob charging handle for the A5. I had one before but I hated using it and sold it with a parts kit but now I miss it and wish I had one. I heard Kahr used to make some but not anymore? And where would be a good place to get some, or reproduction 1921 style parts for a semi tommy.
  10. The legality is pretty clear if you are an SOT or can make it a semi so that's pretty fun haha. Pricey like most saw cuts.
  11. A old one. Serial #193. I saw that serials page for models of thompsons and it was the first batch of A5s thompsons from West Hurley. Any suggestions on how to get a functional lower then?
  12. 1927 Lightweight Lower vs M1 Lower I took my Thompson over to my local gunsmith and we got the lower off of my reciever. The lower would grab the firing pin but would not release the firing pin unless the bolt was held into an half open bolt position. The lower was also grabbing the bolt and dragging it with it instead of separating and we had to fashion a wire hanger to push the trigger from the inside to remove the lower off the upper. Exactly the same new production Kahr Arms AO lowers and trigger groupings. 1927 Lightweight and M1 AO lower 1927 WH bolt in Recieve to M1 AO Bolt in reciever 1927 WH and M1 AO 1927A5 WH Bolt vs M1 AO Bolt Differences circled in Red. The WH bolt has a catch towards the back of the bolt and no semi sear cut like on the M1. Now having marking from a piece on the new 1927 lightweight lower I was given from the guy who had my original lower. I don't remember what internals were looking like in my original, and apparently my original lower got torched and destroyed.
  13. So far I'm having issues with the one you sent. The lower catches the firing pin but will not release it unless i pull the bolt back a little and press the trigger at the same time. lt is also catching the bolt and I cannot remove the frame from my reciever now. 1977 Production, 1927A5 upper and bolt DO NOT function on a AO Kahr Arms Production variation. They have 2 different bolt styles and now my gun is stuck together. Didn't have any issues with my M1A1 lower from Kahr Arms but it also wouldn't shoot either, but it at least I could get my lower off.
  14. I had my West Hurley Aluminum 1927A5 lower sent off to Las Cruses Gunsmith to get worked on for a Bolt Hold open feature and removable stock. I had it sent off back on 05/13 of 2021. It is now 06/07 of 2023 and its still being worked on. I had gotten an email this morning from Tom, the man that works on said Thompson parts. "I am finishing up on the lower and after speaking with a structural engineer that sees what I'm doing, He has grave concerns about the strength of the frame now that I have milled off most of the supporting material. His concern is since the lower was not designed for a butt stock it will most likely fail. I am contacting you in order to have you send me your upper for testing. The light weight gun would be fine with 22 rounds but the 45 is rather violent recoil. I'll let you know what I find from testing . If it fails I do have a lightweight lower here to replace yours. I never considered it to be a problem when I started and do hope I haven't spent so much time working on this just to not charge you and replace the original lower. Again I'm sorry for this problem but I do not want to be liable for a possible serious failure." -Tom I've been waiting forever for this to be done, I said I wasn't in a rush and this is getting ridiculous. What should I do? I will not be sending in my upper reciever as that will probably also sit there forever, but I don't want to pay for the work done to my lower now that it's pretty much ruined from the sounds of it. And getting a replacement lower has been a pain in the ass. Should I sell my upper and try to recoup losses and start again on a Kahr Arms 1927, or just try and track down a functional lower and spend the arm and a leg for that, being almost as much as some semi thompsons. Or any suggestions on how I can get my parts back or anything at all?
  15. Impressive collection then. I figured only someone holding an SOT would be able to get some of the weapons seen, but that's badass they are all Pre 86s.
