  1. Is two weeks the norm for 53202.20? (approval for interstate transport). A friend is at 50-60 days, and that seems excessive.
  2. I was out last night on my range (it has lights) - cool seeing the fire out of the barrel. "Odd sounding fireworks", the neighbors were probably thinking.
  3. I've been shooting the Waffenmeister in both the 1928 and a milled down one for a 1921. Mine's in a Colt, not sure if that would matter. I'd go that route.
  4. You guys need to tell me how Vince Foster died. A compliment. Good detailed analysis on this, btw.
  5. I put another 100 through it this weekend. TD - if I am in town I'll gladly let you try it out. The higher rate of fire is just smooth.
  6. I got these back today (two Waffenmeister's) from Dan. Just can't seem to put my Colt 1921/28 down. Cycles fast and smoothly. Great work from Dan - very well finished. He mentioned that since the steel seems harder, who knows if it will last shorter or longer. This is going to get expensive. Thanks Dan!
  7. I believe that as an individual you get a tax-free transfer upon death (Form 5 I believe), so there is that. However if you want an orderly plan: Start by looking at a trust: https://www.silencershop.com/gun-trust.html Basically you and your trustees can enjoy your NFA items while you're living. Unlike owning as an individual, they can legally borrow it and take it to their farm to shoot. If "borrowed" across state lines, fill out a 5320.20 And upon your death: https://www.nationalguntrusts.com/blogs/nfa-gun-trust-atf-information-database-blog/what-happens-when-a-settlor-dies Your M1A1 is probably worth 25-30K, so it's a chunk of money.
  8. I may be doing this as well. I've got a Richardson clamp. Is there a nylon block set for use with my barrel vise specifically made for the Thompson?
  9. I picked a 21/28 Colt that has a nice original two piece actuator. The barrel was pretty leaded, it's been fired a lot. I sourced a "new manufacture" one piece actuator as I'm going to shoot this a bit. (most of my shooting will be with my M1 as it isn't as collectable) I grabbed a scale and noticed that the new one pc actuator is heavier. Not surprised. I'm guessing that will slow down the rate of fire, and not sure if it will impact the spring. Should I look for a different spring? I can mill out some metal on the new actuator to reduce the weight/mass (like the riveted/holes on the 2pc). Finally, I'm going to assume that the 21/28 has a slower rate of fire than the '21. Are '21 type actuators/pilots/springs available to drop in? Thank you.
  10. 13 months is too long. You should call. Three weeks ago my last transfer took 267 days. (right on time). Most of my stamps have taken between 180 and 270 days.
  11. I recently acquired a Colt with a two-piece actuator and was looking for a Mil actuator. Saw those overseas ones and was mildly tempted but sourced one stateside.
  12. I emailed him in January, no response. Have interest as well.
  13. There is this ATF document from 2003 showing how to torch cut a receiver into three pieces. https://www.atf.gov/firearms/machinegun-destruction Whether it was new guidance in 2003 going forward, no idea.
  14. You should have him bring it to the show in April, lot of experts will be able to view it in person, give their assessment of its current shape and alternative routes towards restoration.
