  1. Thanks for the info! That's about what I figured, but it was confusing trying to Google the information. I will take your advice and google: "the history of gun control in Canada". BEAUTIFUL collection!!
  2. Anyone on this forum a Canadien citizen? If so, what are the laws in Canada for owning a Thompson Submachine Gun ... if even allowed at all? Antique exemptions? Thanks!
  3. One more thought ... if your WH TSMG was indeed modified by "Gun Machines" back in the day which appears to be the case based on your photos, you might want have your receiver thoroughly inspected - maybe even magnafluxed - for cracks.
  4. Welcome to the board!! Yes - as a fellow WH 1928 owner, I can confirm that your first order of business is to replace all those internals with USGI parts and see how things work from there. It is ESPECIALLY important that you replace the recoil spring pilot rod with a USGI part for the sake of safety! That being said, you will also find that not all your USGI magazines will always work right away because unless you find some NOS, a lot of the magazines have been used and abused over time, but they can be fixed. From your photos, your gun internals appear to have been modified by a company that used to claim they could improve rates of fire, etc of WH TSMGs in the past by cutting off the ears of the Blish lock and lightening the bolt among other things ... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you buy Tom Davis' book, "Thompson: Colt's, West Hurley's & More" Good luck & enjoy!
  5. All great info. I was fortunate to receive quite a few extra parts with my WH model 1928 - including a matched number buttstock and buttplate (sadly no slide assembly at all). Using TD's book, "An Amateur's Guide for the Colt's Thompson Submachine Gun", I managed to restore the buttstock and re-blued the hardware.
  6. ??? I previously had an e-filed Form 1 approved in a month a few years ago and figured that since I was "in the ATF database" that my e-filed Form 4 would turnaround faster ... it still took 7-8 months a year ago. That's amazing that Form 4's are turning around in a week now!!!
  7. Has anyone here had a Form 4 transfer turnaround in aweek yet?
  8. Bare trigger frame or complete with internal parts? Every now and then, you will see one on Gunbroker.com - both bare and complete frames which should give you an idea of the market price. Like you, I received an extra USGI bare frame when I purchased my model 1928 TSMG. I finished filling it out with USGI internals as a "spare" and to learn how to disassemble and reassemble it.
  9. Happy 2024!!! I received two new copies of The Thompson Encyclopedia, Vol. 3 over the holidays and am offering one for sale for $90.00 including priority mail shipping. I can take Zelle, PayPal, check or cash. If interested, please PM me. Thanks! Fred
  10. Thanks Tracie! That was my initial inclination from my past Form 1 & Form 4 submission experiences! VR, Fred
  11. Tracie, Thank you - I found the fillable form. What should I enter in block 6. "Reason for transportation of firearms." and Block 3. "Dates" (i.e., does it have to be exact match with our travel plans)? Thanks! Fred
  12. This will be my first time attedning the TATA show and shoot. Does anyone have tips or a redacted template to share for filling out and submitting the ATF Form 5320.20? Thanks! Fred
  13. Contact Richard Garcia with https://tgcatalogauction.com (not sure if this link still works). His email is: tgcatalogauction@gmail.com ... you can also find him on eBay: saldatore He's been busy moving and settling in to his new business location - so be patient if he does not respond right away.
  14. I recently ordered some Winchester 45 ACP ammo from Natchez for shooting from my TSMG. I expected it be in the standard Winchester parctice-target packaging, but this is what I received. Has anyone ever fired it? It looks normal - i.e., 45 ACP, FMJ, brass casings, 230 grain. Thoughts?
  15. Just a thought ... consider a revocable living trust. That way, everything just passes on to your next designated trustee - i.e., your collection and the rest of your estate "carry-on" after your death. It buys time for your designated trustee to sort through things and precludes some states like mine (Virginia) from requiring that everything be appraised (which as you can imagine can run up into a lot of money to find someone qualified to appraise collections such as ours) before it is allowed to transfer.
  16. I just noticed that I need to renew my membership to TATA. Ia it still $40.00 and do we still send our application to: Tracie Hill P.O. Box 8710 Newark, OH. 43058-8710 Thank you! Fred
  17. Thanks for posting this. Bob had me worried there. This answers what firearms parts & accessories can and cannot be sold or purchased on eBay. In my ignorance, I do recall trying to sell a Griffen threaded barrel in the past and it was immediately rejected by the listing system.
  18. Hi Bob, I have not sold or tried to sell any machine gun parts on eBay ... just pistol and shotgun parts such as barrels, grips, shotgun magazine extension kits, etc. and have been completely above board with my sales. That being said, I have regularly seen Thompson Submachine gun parts for sale on eBay. I myself recently purchased a 1928 buttstock slide assembly from eBay - again, it was advertised for what it was. I also regularly see TSMG butt stocks, actuators, bolts, etc, etc for sale. I have saved searches on most TSMG parts as an alternative to some of the higher priced items on GB. I'm not trying to evade any rules on eBay ... If you do a search, you will see LOTS of gun parts and accessories for sale on eBay. I wonder if anything with a serial number that requires a FFL and/or Class 3 dealer transfer is where eBay draws the line? VR, Fred
  19. I'm also still looking for a USGI 1928 model rocker pivot ... I only need the one piece. I already have the safety lever. BTW - I sell gun parts on eBay all the time ... barrels, magazines, grips, etc - all with photos ... with no problem. You just need to be aware of what can't be shipped internationally or to some restrictive states.
